RE: LIQUOR/FRESH FOOD FOR SALE PRICE INCREASE
.
IT IS NO SECRET THAT THE RISING COST OF FUEL IMPACTS US IN
MANY WAYS BEYOND THE GAS PUMP. MERCHANTS AND SUPPLIERS ARE
NOW FORCED TO PASS ALONG THAT COST TO THE CONSUMER BY WAY OF
PRICE INCREASES. IN ORDER TO OFFSET RISING COSTS, AMERICAN
AIRLINES WILL INCREASE THE PRICE OF LIQUOR AND FRESH FOOD
FOR SALE SANDWICHES FROM $5.00 TO $6.00 EFFECTIVE JUNE 1ST.
THE OSR WILL BE UPDATED TO REFLECT THE PRICE INCREASE ALONG
WITH THE APPLICABLE CURRENCY CONVERSION RATES. THIS CHANGE
WILL BE REFLECTED IN THE JULY REVISION OF THE INFLIGHT MANUAL.
THANK YOU!

WN is still only charging $4 for alcoholic beverages.

They must have hedged their booze.

Probably not far from the truth...Obviously they're doing something right!

Reckon this philosophy has anything to do with whats right over there?

“If the employees come first, then they're happy, ... A motivated employee treats the customer well. The customer is happy so they keep coming back, which pleases the shareholders. It's not one of the enduring Green mysteries of all time, it is just the way it works.â€￾ ~ Herb Kelleher

God forbid the company try to cover its costs... oil and gas going up means that anything delivered on a truck (that would be everything) is going to cost more. The extra dollar is hardly a gouging increase and will just help AA dull the impact of higher costs a little.

That quote says it all!

Here's some other things Herb has said:

That was powerful. [Yet] we've never thought that compensation was the primary motivator. If somebody was working just to be compensated, we probably didn't want them at Southwest Airlines. We wanted them working in order to do something in an excellent way. And to serve people.

So we said to [employees]: This is a cause, this is a crusade. This isn't just an ordinary corporation, and you're doing a lot of good for everybody. We're proud of you, and we want you to have psychic satisfaction when you come to work. We get people who take a 25% cut in pay because they say: We just want to enjoy what we're doing.

They've done pretty well with their 401(k) and stock options. But those are variable. People are willing to take that risk and take lower pay because they want to feel fulfilled in the workplace.

Delta's starting to charge more for liquor and food as well. Some of the offerings are going a little crazy with some salads going now from 8 to 10 Dollars and we're serving some type of tequila starting next month and it's going to be $7.00. Heineken and some other type of imported beer we're bringing in are going to go from $5 to $6. Going to be confusing as hell when you've got a cabin full and you've got all of these different prices and you're mixing drinks in shakers taking up even more time.
