I would bet top dollar she won't sue, think of all the dirt the defense could dig up. This biotch got more skeletons in here closet than Bela Lugosi.

Enclosed is an e-mail by your author Joe McGinniss. In this e-mail, Mr. McGinniss admits that your own lawyers instructed him that “nothing I can cite other than my own reporting rises above the level of tawdry gossip.”….Indeed, Mr. McGinniss admits that the allegations are false unless he can find someone or something to show they are true. We know from the final book that he was unable to do so.
It is malicious for your company to publish a book wherein it, and the author, admit that they were fully aware the statements in the book were false, intended to be false, and were intended to harm…
Accordingly, since both your company, and the author, clearly knew the statements were false, admitted they had no basis in fact or reality, but decided to publish in order to harm Governor Palin’s family, you and Mr. McGinniss have defamed the Palins. This letter shall serve as written notice under AS.09.30.070 (B) that a claim may be brought against you, your company and Mr. McGinniss for knowingly publishing false statements.
In the interim, please take note of the following: It is unlawful to delete emails or destroy records upon being notified of the need of business records for litigation purposes. In addition, courts may impose civil sanctions against a defendant that destroys emails and other documentation. Please immediately provide notice to your employees to save and back up all records pertaining to the Palins and the book “The Rogue.”…
FOX news already testified in a court proceeding along with several other news conglomerates that they are not required to report the truth or to be truthful. The standard for slander or defamation is quite a bit higher for a public figure than it is for a private citizen. Look at all the lies the tabloids publish and they have only been sued successfully a hand full of times compared to that amount of lies they publish. I agree that she will not not press the issue but not because of dirt in her closet (although they may be some) but because it is an uphill battle that typically is not worth it.
History should tell you that whatever the liberal smear merchants try to pin on Sarah Palin she always come out smelling like a rose. The various lawsuits filed against her when she was gov, not one of them stuck.
Remember the emails that the left were salivating over? It blew up in their face when there was no dirt, rather it showed how she was a highly engaged in her position.
The problem with this book is that there are leaked emails showing how the publishers attorneys warned McGinniss over the lack of factual proof to substantiate his claims. He even admitted on camera that he spoke to no one that knew Sarah Palin. But he decided to anyways. The fact that attorneys have gave the publisher notice of potential lawsuit should show how serious she is. I hope she does. It would serve them right.
McGinniss has a history of winding up in court after writing fraudulent statements in his books. Why should anyone be surprised this time?
Nice speech but not really relevant. All I was discussing was the standards for slander or defamation. They are higher/different for a public person than they are for a private person. It is very difficult (but not impossible) for a public persona to win such a case.
We shall see how it plays out. Im thinking that the Palin legsl team have a better grasp then you and your liberal cohorts.
