Fossil fuels are a finite resource and eventually we will HAVE to change. That is an indisputable fact. Believe it or not KCFlyer I do support green energy production but it needs to be a slow natural progression. Not a government mandated goal that we don't yet have the technology to meet. Green tech is not "there" yet but I have no doubt that one day it will be.
There is also the question of infrastructure. Many places can't handle the strain on the electrical grid NOW, you throw millions of electric cars in the mix and you are going to overload the grid.
Speaking of electric cars what do you think that will do to the used car market? I know my first car was a 10 year old beater? Nice thing about a gas powered car is you can buy a 10 year old car (or older!!!) that runs great if it is properly cared for and maintained. You think anyone is going to be interested in buying a 4 to 7 year old car with clapped out batteries? Electric cars will kill the used car market. Nobody wants to buy a car then have to stick another 5k worth of batteries in it. You think cell phones are an electronic waste problem.... you just wait until electric cars take off.
That being said there are 2 technologies being worked on right now I am very excited about.

One is an almost room temperature (59 Fahrenheit/15 Celsius) super conductor. This is a super huge deal. I cannot stress what a huge deal this really is. We are talking world changing. Right now scientist don't know exactly why this works but they are studying it There is also the issue this only works under high pressure (2.5M atmospheres) so it is not really practical. But the important thing is now we know it is possible. Once they figure out the why maybe they can manipulate it to make it practical and run at hotter temperatures. If we did go all green this would certainly solve a lot of the problems we are facing.

Second is the experimentation of fusion right here on Earth to meet our energy needs. Scientist are trying to create a mini sun right here on Earth. My coworker actually has a nephew that went to MIT that is working on doing just this. This may one day provide for all of our energy needs.
You mix green tech with a room temperature super conductor or better yet a sustainable fusion reaction and it will be a whole new landscape for energy.
What you need to know KCFlyer is the Green New Deal is not about the environment or improving your standard of living. It is about transitioning Americans from fossil fuels, a globally traded commodity, to electricity, a government regulated utility. It is about government controlling the means of energy production and consumption. There is nothing benevolent about what the Democrats are trying to do. You have been duped.
This is the biggest scam since government backed student loans (to the tune of
1.6 trillion dollars). Student loans were never about helping people secure an education. They were nothing more than a means to an end to drive a government wedge into private education. Schools compromised their students futures and became centers of propaganda and conditioning for the left.
Why?
1.6 trillion dollars.
Bought and paid for.
Now socialist like "free college" Bernie Sanders want to inflict that private debt (and all future debt) on tax payers, most who never went to college.Tell me what right any individual has to run up a private debt and insist someone else pay it?
Would you like if I took out a $50,000.00 loan for a $15,000.00 car I never drove and handed you my bill? No? Well I don't like being forced (through government mandate) to pay higher taxes to cover a $100,000 debt for an art history or gender studies degree for someone to be a barista at Starbucks.
Just another example of the government offering a "fix" for a problem they created to begin with.
The depths of Democrat stupidity never cease to amaze me. You are so indoctrinated you can't see the obvious even when it is right in front of your dimwitted faces. It would be hilarious if everyone else did not have to suffer the consequences of your stupidity.
I bet all those newly unemployed people in the oil industry have a pretty strong opinion of who the worst president ever is, and I am betting it is not Trump.
