They Just Don't Get US Airways!

You know I asked someone once why it is that every time I read an article by theStreet pertaining to US Airways the article(s) are always negative. I was informed that several people there are ex-US pilots. Can we say, serious case of pilot envy? They're not always the brightest or most coherent commentaries either.

Generally when Marek speaks about mergers he is correct in that many companies promise the world on a silver platter to investors but deliver a bucket of turds with a blue ribbon tied round.

When it comes to US Airways I think he underestimates their ability to squeeze blood from a rock. When it comes to how US treats Customers and Employees I'm no fan of Doug Parker and nothing has changed there.

That said I think in order to be fair you have to give Doug credit for the finance side of the business. Doug and the rest of the folks on the money side of the business are among the best of the best. It gets them in trouble on the Marketing and Product side from time to time and Labor is a disaster but in pure finance activities I think they have it together. If Doug Parker feels he can get 1.5 billion, I believe him. He doesn't lie even a little to the money people. Employees & Customers??? Different story.

This jackwagon clearly has no clue about Parker when it comes to $$. If he says 1.5B saved, I as well believe it. And dont think for a minute he doesnt already have investors lined up.

Let me get this straight, he doesn't believe them because they didn't give specifics as to how they would achieve the savings, yet he doesn't offer specifics as to why they can't achieve those levels of savings. Nothing screams "professional media" like a guy yelling at his webcam from his home computer.

I bet if you asked this idiot to define the word synergies he couldnt. Those of us who have been around a long time can look at the route map alone and see how it would be a benefit as well. Say what you want.........im sure Parker has a good plan. Labor is the tougher issue.

Honestly, if he can carve out 1.5B before dealing with the labor groups, labor issues don't matter.

I think Doug is guilty of one thing in this merger activity. He's let one piece of business get personal and that's the whole USAPA thing going on. He want's APA fully on board for two reasons IMO.

1. It will purely and simply make the merger more attractive to investors and creditors.

2. With APA "on board" he will be able to biotch slap USAPA into a coma.

I would not dispute that comment at all. The only dog I have in the East/West fight is maintaining my job for the next 10-15 years. If it takes APA to be on board.....so be it. And no I dont pay union dues.

this video has been making the rounds among AA folks --- but it could apply to all carriers:

If US is making money, then whatever is going on is working. Maybe Parker feeds off the labor issues, because if you divide, you conquer. See US!

By arguing, one side must prove they are better. The other side must give in. Parker is profiting as the employees get "volantarily" screwed.

Myself, I think Parker is yet doomed to a merger delusion. They claim that outsiders don't get it. But all I see is the cycle repeating itself.

My own opinion is that Parker may have made costly mistakes, and more powerful airlines may be looking at a profitable merger of their own. US believed they had Delta, United, Continental. This while the world saw their first merger 'labor' failure. The boy cried wolf, and eventually the wolf came. But nobody cared.

Even with a merger with AA, the microscope will be on US, where we will see if Parker, as I assume, has found a way to profit from labor discord to the 10th power 🙄

As was stated before......if 1.5B can be saved......I think the labor issues would eventually go away. Will it be a long hard road? Of course. I do believe more money for all in the end. I know a person at AA that is in my same position and he is better off than me...as it stands now.

While Parker has certainly benefited from the pilot and flight attendant work groups being on pre-merger contracts, he is not the reason those contracts are still in effect. The labor issues at the company are not seen as his fault, outside of this website or employee ranks.
