You know I asked someone once why it is that every time I read an article by theStreet pertaining to US Airways the article(s) are always negative. I was informed that several people there are ex-US pilots. Can we say, serious case of pilot envy? They're not always the brightest or most coherent commentaries either.

Generally when Marek speaks about mergers he is correct in that many companies promise the world on a silver platter to investors but deliver a bucket of turds with a blue ribbon tied round.
When it comes to US Airways I think he underestimates their ability to squeeze blood from a rock. When it comes to how US treats Customers and Employees I'm no fan of Doug Parker and nothing has changed there.
That said I think in order to be fair you have to give Doug credit for the finance side of the business. Doug and the rest of the folks on the money side of the business are among the best of the best. It gets them in trouble on the Marketing and Product side from time to time and Labor is a disaster but in pure finance activities I think they have it together. If Doug Parker feels he can get 1.5 billion, I believe him. He doesn't lie even a little to the money people. Employees & Customers??? Different story.
Let me get this straight, he doesn't believe them because they didn't give specifics as to how they would achieve the savings, yet he doesn't offer specifics as to why they can't achieve those levels of savings. Nothing screams "professional media" like a guy yelling at his webcam from his home computer.
Honestly, if he can carve out 1.5B before dealing with the labor groups, labor issues don't matter.I bet if you asked this idiot to define the word synergies he couldnt. Those of us who have been around a long time can look at the route map alone and see how it would be a benefit as well. Say what you want.........im sure Parker has a good plan. Labor is the tougher issue.
