As the Xmas Season nears once again, one cant help but think back to LAST YEAR and remember the embarrassment this company endured in the media.

Hopefully, flights will be FULL. Did the powers that be, schedule enough employees correctly? The GATE areas will be "packed" with customers that need additional agents when all the flights are FULL. Weather can cause crew shortages. Thousands of BAGS the system usually doesnt deal with because it's holiday traffic.
It's difficult at best, when flights and airports are FULL.

DID ANYONE HAVE THE FORESIGHT THIS YEAR?

I thought it was a candle, but couldn't find the wick. 😛

Sky High,

Your optimism is as high as your handle. AC still the person in charge and still responsible for last year, as determined by government and anyone directly involved.

Hope is a good thing, reality another. Best of luck this season!

Okay everyone. Let the doom and gloom
begin.

No, but seriously, while it may be true
(and rumor has it) that Al Kremlin is still
in charge of customer service, US is not
in BK as they were last year, and they
have no incentive to make the unions
look bad for the BK judge to grant their
wishes for contract abrogation. It was
all Jerry Glass's plan to run the operation
short on personnel because it would seal
the deal with Judge Mitchell.

I'm not much of a betting man when it
comes to corporate responsibility, so
I would be hard pressed to bet that things
will be different this year; however, if
all of the information we have received
about Mr. Parker's ability to find solutions
to problems is true, then I would expect
him to throw a small pile of money at
the problem to prevent a repeat.

That said, the IAM and CWA need to
put together some realistic staffing
numbers and present them to Mr.
Parker, and the union rank and file
need to SHOW UP for work prepared
to prevent another meltdown.

It will require a TEAM effort on the
part of management and employees
if we are to see a marked improvement
from last XMAS.

Lets hope the staffing they have for OCT doesnt stay the staffing for Nov/Dec or we're screwed. In OCT (we start handling HP flights on the 5th) we have 2 (count them 2) agents after 5pm at the counter to work the HP flight and 3 US flights. Now, if they were ALL done in the same computers, same kiosks, ok, maybe, but 2 computers, 2 lines, and 2 agents (one of whom is supposed to run out and help board the HP flights). Its not going to be a pretty sight unless someone magically appears to assist. Throw in a maint or weather delay/canx and let the games begin. All this BEFORE someone might happen to call out and only 10 of us are trained to work the HP flights so that limits the overtime help even more. I just hope that they decide what system to use soon and get everyone trained to work both sets of flights. Its going to be a long season otherwise.

Last Christmas, my department at AWA gave me a pocket calendar. What kind of cheese was it, anyways? The stinkier the cheese, the better. Limburger, if you get past the smell, tastes like a chunk of Heaven.

And just to think, this'll be the first Christmas for our dear friends at HP and their new Vice President - Customer Service West, Donna Paladini.

Maybe that's the idea--screw up the rest of the system, so PHL won't look so bad anymore. 😛

Folks you got to remember something..

We are headed into the Holidays.. Its that time of the year when US Airways announces to the world what stations they will be closing and how many people will be getting laid off!!

Its the Xmas bone-us!!

Happens every year. The only difference is this year the HP people are going to find out how they are getting "boned".

PHilly will not be ready to handle the loads this holiday year.

Meltdown will happen again for sure because there are

Not enough Carts

Not enough Tugs

Not enough Beltloaders

Not enough DPN AKN DQF Cans for widebodies or lifters to load

4 weeks till the holiday travel season starts

Philly has enough of empty promises time to act now not later.

Mr Parker can you hear us now?

The Hp guys think that Philly is only using 1 beltloader on their flights on purpose, to dog it.....truth is...that's all we have. And their flights always have a push tug and tow bar. They don't know special treatment when they see it!

I used to worry myself sick when HP left us without an adequate amount of equipment needed to perform our jobs. Then I figured, I'd just do whatever I could without getting winded or breaking my back. Just do as good as you can with what you are given, don't kill yourself and if the company wants to make an ass out of itself, oh well. It's all out of our hands, anyway. Allah will provide. 🙂
