Saw that. What do they use, gas turbines?

Hope it doesn't run on reconstituted french fry oil.

Biofuels in a wartime situ is incredibly stupid from my POV.

They use gas turbines as do most navy ships. Some of the large LHA still use steam turbines though. Eventually those will be gone.

Another thing they did with that class of ship was to use aluminum in the construction. While it's great for airplanes it's not the best thing to build a warship with.

I saw that too. 'Bout dropped my drawers when I read that. Where do they get these marine structural engineers? H-1B visa program?

Most of your German, Japanese plus some US automakers now use chassis and axle components made from Aluminum. They tout a protective coating over the Al, but road salt and cinders will fix that. I can imagine some ten years down the line.

I remember back in the day you were lucky if you could get a car to last ten years before it rusted out on you.
