Am I the only one who sees the irony of a bunch of LCC employees trying to convince one of their best customers that a merger between two of his best travel options are going to help him out in the long run? Yeah right.. LOL
I don't always see eye to eye with Piney, but his instincts as a customer could not be any more correct.
More competition = better choices = better prices. If you can't compete, then do the right thing and close shop and try something else. Don't use your own inadequacies to justify consolidation to screw your customers and raise prices.
The goal is less capacity to limit how many airlines go out of business in the future and the overall health of the industry. Parker can see it and it makes sense. Just how are customers getting screwed to fly from LA to NY for 400 or 500 bucks verses 200 or 300? 500 buck is still a hell of a deal when compared to driving cross country don't ya think. Don't worry if more consolidation happens consumers will still have choices. Better to have choices from healthy airlines not skimping on maintenance, then weak fragile airlines cutting corners don't ya think. Get off the poor consumer trip and think of value and safety
