Trouble in 777 Overhaul (China)

Outsourcing to Hong Kong makes no sense other than pure greed,it was started by greed and will continue.It certainly don't help the country only the high rollers.All the payroll taxes gone,workers gone,skills lost pissed in the wind,and the list goes on.Tell me how it benefits the USA? How has all the restructured Airlines Outsourcing helped America?

Good question. I don't know, but I'd guess that by reducing costs, it better enables USA-based legacy airlines to compete against the Cathay Pacifics and Singapore Airlines of the world, which overhaul their planes in their home countries for lower costs than the former UAL or AA overhaul operations.

The pilots and flight attendants and other employees of the restructured legacy airlines (which outsourced a lot of overhaul) are still employed at pretty good wages thanks to lower-cost overhaul. Doesn't do much for you if you really want to live in Tulsa or Fort Worth and don't want to work as a line mechanic. But like it or not, legacy airlines either lower their costs or they go out of business and are replaced by the non-union, low-wage jetBlues and Virgin Americas.

Turns out that "Restore and More" was merely lunatic rantings, not a realistic possibility.

Jet Blue mechanics top out at around $40/hr in New York. That $6/hr more than AA.
