<_< ------- Hey!---- If the shoe fits!!!!!

A labor union is defined as "a group of workers who have banded together to achieve common goals in the key areas of wages, hours, and working conditions" (Boone and Kurtz, 1999, p. 414).

Interesting definition. "A group of workers who have banded together......" Does that sound like us? The place is crawling with rats, snitches and ass-kissers throughout the system in our ranks. Some guys relish the opportunity to make the "boss" a hot cup of coffee in the morning. We have too many quislings in this union, unfortunately.

<_< ------- Hey!---- If the shoe fits!!!!!
Unlike you my friend I have paid my dues to AA. You have merely been riding the coat tail of good fortune. Now your ride is over. Enjoy your retirement, courtesy of the TWU/AA.

mci-you have earned it...the good fortune belongs to those who bad mouth the union/co. situation....then ride it for years and do nothing to change it...in a real world situation we would be saying goodbye to the fine gentleman who just bid you adieu....nuts and guts and they could change it,but why, when you are both the bitchee and beneficiary of the established system...add up the no. of union meetings of all here who complain about the system and it might equal the no. of inches of snowfall ann. in oh say.......................yuma

Are you saying that if more members attended meetings that things would change for the better? If so tell me how, and be specific.

The technology exists to bring the Locals to the members but so far no one has done so, its far easier for those who benifit the most from the status quo to sit back, do nothing and then blame the members for their inaction

Bob, that's great, I couldn't agree with you more!!

So in exchange for the billions in wage cuts and hundreds of millions of additional revenue the company throws a measely $120 million and the TWU jumps at it.

The TWU is desperate to get that $120 million into something that will up their revenue(check their LM-2). If we are only going to get $120 million get me my holidays, vacation, longevity, doubletime and shift differential back first, this way the International gets none of it.

In mid may the compAAny offers:
2 year contract
5% lump date of signing
3.5% at +12mo.
1 more holiday in 08'/2 more in 09'
3 flex vc days
+1 sk day in 08'/+3 sk days in 09' at full pay
Variable profit sharing (value unknown)

If that indeed adds up to $120m, why, since both parties are supposedly bargaining in good faith, would the counteroffer not exceed that amount??? I thought this was a give and take/meet in the middle process. And why, given the price of crude, would the compAAny not accept a substandard counteroffer??? I can only judge on what we know, which sadly comes mostly from the compAAny's negotiations website.

Any give and take should start after our previous agreement has been reinstated.Anything less brought back is a continuation of the lies and deception. Can someone ask dennis to dig a little deeper in their pants?

That's exactly the kind of stance that will see you all the way to the unemployment line. You can't have "snap back" when the company is losing money. I agree that it looks very bad that the execs are taking their payouts at the same time, and I won't defend that. But you also need to have a grip on reality, and reality in the airline industry right now is that nobody is making money and the company can't afford to restore your 2003 concessions.

It is very bad when execs take their payouts while we are left in the dust. However, the tough talk about total snap backs to 2003 levels is not logical either given the fact that the industry is bleeding. In an ideal world, something would be worked out that gives us closer to what want and need as well as scale back what is doled out at the top of the ladder.

Only in a more perfect world...one can dream.

Oil is down 30%. As the airlines continue to reduce capacity by taking the fuel hogs out of service it will help drive down prices even more. Airlines use a tremendous amount of oil. People are also reducing their use of oil as people drive less and SUVs dissapear. As more Solar and wind are developed demand for oil will continue to decline and so will prices.

Total snap back plus COLA. That still puts AA billions ahead.
