U.S. Airways Plane Gets Stuck In Mud At Bradley

Oldiebutgoody,

Your answer to the second question should be retracted. USAPA was formed for one reason and one reason ONLY. To DO THE RIGHT THING in regards to caring for our Member Pilots. This is not about East and West. It is about replacing a self serving unconcerned organization (ALPA) that was serving itself at our expense. ALPA was replaced because they were NOT SERVING THE PILOTS.

Which pilots?? All pilots involved.

I predict, based on what I have observed, and I watch things carefully, that DOING WHAT IS RIGHT, will be the cornerstone of decisions made by USAPA leaders.

And that means SERVING AND PROTECTING ALL MEMBER PILOTS regardless of which company hired them.

My advice to any and all pilots is to GET INVOLVED with YOUR UNION. Have a part in the process and influence the progress.

Making this into a bigger war is not a valid use of time or energy. We will ALL have to contend with UAL's people in less than 6 months I expect. Hence NOW is the time to work out our differences.

Peace,

IW
The question wasn't what they SHOULD do or what they WOULD do, or even what is the RIGHT thing to do. The question was, what was the EASIEST thing to do. I believe I answered that.

I sit here reading posts about "yellow lanyard errors" and that someone should be fired for this or that. IT'S CHILDISH!

I don't know who did or didn't vote for whom in the election. I know that those that CHOOSE not to participate will have NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN if things don't end up the way the wish.

One thing I have been wondering...an east idiot shoots an airplane or gets stuck in the mud, usapa is there. What if it happens to a west guy? Why would they protect us, the whole reason for there existence is to rearange the seniority list...wouldn't it be easier if we were just fired?
First off, calling someone an idiot serves no purpose now. The election campaign is over. Is that what you want us to say or classify the west pilots who are in a bind over the FA non rev issue? I would hope not.

The issue whether or not for USAPA's existence was not and is not our sole purpose for being elected. Some of us, like me, have wanted to see ALPA removed long before the current event. All it took was this issue to galvanize and unite a fractured pilot group. For the first time in many years we are united by more than just 57%.

So in answer to your question, the west pilots for now will be defended by USAPA to our best ability. Lets hope you won't have to find out. There will be a time, I don't know when yet, when that protection will only fall to members. I would hope you will join USAPA now, then see how things work out. You can always withdraw membership later.

OK, this has gone far enough.

Let me repeat for those who missed the first point.

This topic is about the incident itself at BDL...that means what happened, damage to the aircraft, etc.

IT IS NOT ABOUT ALPA vs. USAPA. IT IS NOT ABOUT REPRESENTATION at this time.... so get over it and stay on topic.

The next post which attempts to go back to fighting between East and West, and union representation gets a week off.

You folks have GOT to start following the rules.

Interesting sidebar to the BDL incident. It seems the 733 involved (589) has been ferried to PIT for repairs prior to being retired. So while not a write off that was it's last revenue flight at US. I also see 511 and 514 have just been retired also, sister ships to 513 lost at PIT on US 427.

Hate to post uncomfired rumors but heard one of the flt att's working the BDL incident was also working the DEN-CLT 319 with the accidental gun discharge in the cockpit, pretty interesting month for her if this is true.

It must be her fault! She was probably wearing a yellow lanyard! (kidding, of course!)

It's hard to tell at LCC just what the order of manufacture was, because the N numbers were changed and shuffled after the PA/U merger in 1988. They may be sequential.

All planes going back to the lessors make a base mtc visit before the return, there is a work package that gets completed, for example taking certain things off the plane and returning them to stock.

Thanks for the ifo, but those dates of delivery don't look correct. It says we were getting 737s in 2007. I know that ain't right. Could i man something else? Maybe I'm not reading it correctly

When the N numbers on HP planes were changed after the US/HP merger, those airplanes got new "delivery" dates as the registration changed from HP to US. You have to look at the detailed info on each airframe to see when it was originally delivered to one of the US "component" carriers.

Thanks. Now it makes sense (sort of).

Sort of at best - don't know why they do it that way, but if you look at some of the former PI airframes you'll see several "delivery" dates - to PI originally, then to USAir, then to US Airways. Every time either the tail number or carrier name changes there's another "delivery" date. Here's 501UW, a 737-300:

04/12/1985 Piedmont N313P
05/08/1989 US Air N334US
27/02/1997 US Airways N334US
01/08/2006 US Airways N501UW

So in the list of active aircraft it would show a "delivery" date of 1/08/2006.
