Given the near total collapse of employee morale and the daily degeneration in U's public image is it logical to think that Crystal City may be planning for the temporary shutdown of operations? What would the price tag be for a 30 day shutdown? Wouldn't provisions to do this be the only way to deal with a strike? I think it may happen if there is a massive shift to outsourcing and or self-help.

I had an opportunity over the past 4 days to travel the USAirways sysytem. I came in contact, indirectlly, with approximately 1000 customers and about 100 USAirways employees.

You know what? Customers are pulling for the survival of USAirways! Especially the ones that live and work in cities like PIT, PHL, and CLT. Their experiences ,at least during the "Snapshot" over 4 days, was one of positive, pleasant customer service. Provided by the greatest employee group giving their best to make sure those folks would choose USAirways the next time they had air travel needs.
Even in Philly, I might add.

Strike. Maybe that's just what the company wants IAM to do. Push them over the edge. Lock them out. Outsource all their jobs. Start with a clean sheet of paper with respect to Mainetnance issues. The last time IAM went on strike, the airline operated, with a reduced schedule. Picket lines were not fully honored. It could happen again.

Realistically, USAIrways will survive if that is what Dr. Bronner chooses. Once labor issues are resolved, there should be no reason the company should not succeed and even prosper, given the lowest labor costs of ANY Legacy carrier.

Wishing all USAirways employees the best in the forthcoming Holiday season.

Remember that the last time the IAM-Maintenace went on strike, the FSA's were NOT IAM as they are now, and the C/S employees were also not covered by a contract which required us all to work. That WILL NOT be the case this time.

Bless you. And we won't cross any picket lines, AFA or CWA.

When U shuts down, will the IAM and CWA be manning the picket lines for years to follow, like the Eastern IAM guys did?....

I don't believe CWA, IAM or AFA will cross picket lines...We all feel like we have targets on our backs now from the company...

We all are having the exact same issues....Layoffs, Cuts in Pay, Cuts in benefits, Outsourcing, Lack of Job security, Threats of Liquidation, etc...

Over the years, we have been trying to ensure the survival of the airline, despite dumb moves by the management...Mgt pay raises, when we took cuts...CEO's leaving with millions of $$$$ in their briefcase...

If Mr Bronner doesn't think a cut in his $400,000 hefty salary would help the airline...How many Mechanics, Reservationists, Flight attendants, or Pilots could be hired by dividing some of that salary?...When Lee Ioacoa brought Chrysler out of bankrupty and near liquidation, he took a $ 1 dollar salary...That may be extreme, but it gets the point accross, I believe...

All we ask is for the company to be reasonable, respectful, and for mgt to also want... the airline.... to survive....

I agree, all work groups have had enuf of this grab all from Jerry Glass and Lakefield continuing to allow it. CWA, IAM, and AFA will all stand together. ALPA will cross a picket line in a New York minutes, but there wont be anyone the check in the flights, work the cabins, or load the bags....... B)

No one....no one

crosses....

except USA320pilot...he seems to think he can do it all...

can anyone imagine usa320 trying to load say 100 bags and say even heavy freight/mail and then board his plane load of pax? i'd have to bring a video camcorder for that one and show it to the world that one pilot who thinks we all should take cuts is superman!

No, only until the company dies. If the people at U decide to strike, why does everyone remind them of the EAL situation like the EAL people made a mistake. For the thousandth time, I have NOT ONCE heard anyone say "we made a mistake". The people at U know their situation and they will do what they think is appropriate for them.

WE CROSS NO PICKET LINES

ALL FOR ONE...ONE FOR ALL

WOW $12.65 TIL 2011 IS REALL WORTH IT
AND NO MEDICAL AFTER YOU RETIRE....

don't cross.....
