UA announces major loss "we lag on revenue"

and AA has something to say about UA's entrance back to the Chile market and the home of AA's Latin America JV partner.

Yes, that must be a response to UA. It couldn't possibly be just the natural consequences of having 773 deliveries, i.e. 773's free up 772's for use in 763 markets... Without a doubt, 763's will probably be deployed onto something currently served by a 75R or into new markets...

Since UA doesn't have a decent Star Alliance partner to serve deep south destinations, they'll have to do it themselves if they're not content with AV serving it as a connection.

kinda like AA's introduction of a 2nd daily JFK-EZE flight at the very time when DL tried to enter that market?

sure it is.... which is why DL is now building ATL and NYC from other markets in Latin America until DL reaches enough mass that they can show up and add MIA-Latin America without firing the proverbial first shot.

of course it won't hurt that every tom, dick, and harry airline will be flying from S. Florida to Latin America in a few years and it will be them that will bring fares down.
