I remember US trying to steal DL last year and they made enough of a fuss to keep it from happening. Count on that happening again.
In the previous merger attempt, UAL employees, most notably the pilot group, had a big lever in the 'employee ownership' program. Since being washed through the bankruptcy wringer, that no longer applies.
Employees from any airline can complain, wish, want, kick, scream, cajole, and pray just as much as they want - and it won't make a bit of difference as to the outcome. The power/money people are driving the bus, and we are all just along for the ride.....

Seeing how the East pilots are acting, expect a repeat if UA pilots ever face a merger with that group.

This would not be good especially with the US management. The two cultures would destroy both airlines. The UA customer/market is more demanding. If you think things are bad at UA now I guarantee you it will become horrendous. Since the new US management took over they reduced the size of many of the first and business cabins to add more coach seats. The in-flight service is a joke and they continually take stuff away from the FT program. Parker’s idea to raise profits is to add more coach seats, place ads on tray tables etc. If they took over he would never keep E+We are the US AIRWAYS , resistance if futile , lower your shields and prepare to be assimilated ..
There are some LCC execs with too much money who want more.The only people that would benefit from this would be CO and AA since most elites would leave.
I don't know any pilot or flight attendant that wants this merge.
