Uniform Ties

: 😉 😉 😉 Excuse me, but you need to get over urself. You work for a low cost and sorry to say low class airline, why sould employees be dressed " to the nines". .

Someones just upset that they quit before they could try out the new uniform!
I believe that the agents are the ones who are not being required to wear a tie. I have not heard anything about going AS casual as WN. There is a casual that can be attained before you hit "going to the beach for the day" casual. There are uniforms that can look nice without having that boxed in feel as well. As far as agent wear, its not easy working the counter or baggage slinging bags while having a tie wrapped around your neck. I've almost strangled myself a couple of times. I think there is a nice middle ground that can be achieved where everyone looks nice while being comfortable on the job. I cant see the company going the shorts and flip flop route. B)

The current aviator shirt looks too sloppy without the tie (East) as we got the cheapest kind. They are paper thin ,oversized and don't hold starch, so at least on the East coast, wait until we have a shirt that is designed to where without a tie.

Personally, this domestic diva can't wait to shed the tie.

Ya know, everyone always talks about the tie being a seasonal option but it does get hot in the winter as well. When the a/c is at the gate and the lights are on high you add that with the body heat of a hundred passengers or more and you have some serious heat. Now start walking throught the cabin and helping stow bags and your normal duties in the back of breaking down meal boxes and stocking. Then you pull off the gate and ya ride around on one engine. I also have ripped three buttons from my shirt and half choked myself when cleaning the a/c. My tie has been wrapped around an armrest leaning to clean peoples junk. Ya get up and wham your eyes are bugging out of your head and your half choked. LOL. The tie needs to go. It's understandable why regareless of if it looking "Taylored ans spiffy" it comes off. While I don't want to look like a passenger when working I think many are attaching the look that a flight attendant should have to an era far gone.

 no, I like a tie, it makes even the ugliest of polyblend shirts look presentable...Just let us get a real tie one that we can tie, no clip ons or tabs, and let it be an option...I certainly don't won't to force my collegues to wear a tie, but let the option be nice presentable shirt, one that would look nice without a tie, maybe a button down with a pullover or vest.?.

When some think that my tie being off looks unprofessional my reply is, "at least my uniform fits properly". THAT is key.

EXACTLY!! The airlines are obsessed with the GD tie. Get over it!! We are a casual airline now. Americans are casual. HELLO!! We are known for our casual dress. You think I care what some stuffy two bit Eurotrash businessman thinks of our casual attire in the future. Europeans in general, like Americans, just want a cheap seat. Some of you need to fly transatlantic, especially Manchester, UK. TRASH, TRASH, TRASH!!. And the other places aren't much better. Been there, seen it.

You are 100% correct. Working the transatlantic flights you really get to see just how "tidy" the passengers look. Even international is trashy and that includes "Envoy" or whatever we call it now. Walking around many of the cities in europe there is no damn difference in the way we dress compared to europeans. Walk the streets of manchester or london. PLEASE ! ! ! ! Now I'm not saying that a tie doesn't look nice or that it shouldn't be worn on int'l to give a better appearance but it is not the end of aviation as we know it if we drop it. Seeing a f/a without a tie on is better than seeing bubba bend over on the cart with his shirt not tucked in or a wife beater tank top under their workshirt. Better yet no undershirt at all. Ugggg BARF. We'll have to see what kind of uniform options they turn out of this "brainstorm". Maybe the women take their tabs off so they don't look like Ralph Cramden the bus driver or the head prison warden. Again, wanting the tie to stay is some holding onto an era of air travel way in the past. Maybe they should reinstate the gloves and bring back the scale to stand on too.

So many business have gone to more casual attire the last 10-15 years. Casual does not mean unprofessional or sloppy. Even a nice polo & casual pants look professional if they fit, and are kept clean.

Someone told me on the flight today that the Business/Casual Uniform is a button down shirt with a sleeveless vest. All navy blue, white or light gray shirt with the logo on the left.

But this could be rumour!

I kinda like this. I hope they make one for women....

Ok Jetgirl....now I could seriously step into something like that in our colors for work. That would be VERY nice. See you can be casual and still look sharp. Though all don't have his body type. Again that is where the "different" pieces come in for guys and gals. If the tie were red I would consider it from time to time. I think women and men included need to be able to change their uniform up a bit from time to time. Give the men some red accents such as a tie or vest or both. Maybe some silver or gray. PLEASE no striped shirts or ties like greg brady. I still see some guys with that damn striped tie or better yet the one with the pink colors in them. sweet jesus are they old. looks rediculous. If you prefer a tie and you see all these business men with really nice ties, why on earth would someone want to "sport" that sucker on the plane? That couldn't even be sold at the goodwill.
