I did not realize that my dues went beyond the TWU International

Maybe we the membership need to demand the the TWU disclose a written succession plan that includes the criteria for the next International President and the identities of promising internal candidates?

Or list of potential appointees and where they stand on issues effecting our livelyhood?

I hadn't thought about it but it makes sense. AFL-CIO represents no workers directly and thus has no direct dues income but must get money somewhere to fund it's structure/costs/efforts. So I guess they get some portion of all member union's dues income.

Even Agency Fee is a no win solution. The criteria for Agency Fee, the auditing of the unions books would show an investment and nothing political. I guess it could be considered money laundering.

How did they bust the Mafia? Wasn't it RICO.

Not if enough members are on Agency Fee and they obtain a lawyer to challenge the calculations.

Oh, you mean accountability to the members? That idea has been around awhile but a certain local hasn't shown much interest.

That is the point. In this case the AFL-CIO is the good guy putting away "your" money for "your" future. Has a crime been committee, I am not so sure. What does the union need to account for?

Is that a rhetorical question or do I need to answer that?

Be careful out there, sometimes TWU elected leaders tend to lose control of their trucks....
