United Airlines of the United States will resume a direct flight linking San Francisco with Incheon, a senior company official said Wednesday.

Starting on April 4, United Airlines plans to offer one daily flight leaving for San Francisco from Incheon International Airport west of Seoul at 1 p.m.

The resumption brings the number of flights to South Korea by the company to 21 a week from the current 14. United operates two daily flights on a route between Incheon and Narita, Japan.

Mark Schwab, vice head of the airline's Asia-Pacific unit, said the resumption represents the importance of the Asia-Pacific region and South Korea for the company.

United Airlines, which had operated a San Francisco-Gimpo (Seoul) route since 1986, suspended the direct route in September last year due to increased fuel costs.

With its SFO hub UA should operate this flight. I find it hard to believe a 777 with 200 passengers daily can't make this work.
