Unused Routes

Do you think they'll lose it next month when they file? How small will they have to shrink when they file?

If United is successful in not only bringing United out of bk but making them a financial success too, you may find that the management team is the best out there. Of course everybody criticizes them now, but in a year from now what will be their opinion? Especially if Delta or Northwest are in bankruptcy themselves.

Fly, you are a little bit on the right track but you are probably confusing skill sets. United did very well in securing Glenn Tilton for the "turn-around" as he is one of the best in the business, but he is most likely not a competent airline manager. In my experience "turn-around" guys don't do very well in building or maintaining companies.

I have NO doubt that Tilton will depart almost immediately after emerging. It is his reputation in a year that I am speaking of.

bankruptcy status has nothing to do with route authorities. I would expect that DL would keep much of its Latin route system if it does file. Some of the transatlantic routes are anther story.

Turnaround people are rarely kept to run a business. Tilton has succeeded because he is a hatchetman. That skill is not wanted or needed at a company that is rebuilding and presumably growing.

Good Point!

Do you think Delta needs him now?
