US AIRWAYS FORUM!

If Doug Parker gets his way, that sound you hear will be of AA employees getting stapled to the bottom of the seniority lists.

Funny the Declaratory Judgement hasnt even been ruled on at the District Level, so please show us where Judge Silver ruled and it was appealed to the 9th and overturned?

Oh wait, you cant, cause none of this has happened yet.

Amazing how the east pilots grasp at straws and make things up.

In my opinion, AA's employees will have a choice: Fight AMR's restructuring in hopes of not having the individual Term Sheets imposed through the S.1113 process with its 13,000 furloughs or merge with US Airways and obtain industry leading contracts similar to Delta Air Lines with job preservation.

That should convince the AA employees that a US-AA combination is the best deal around.

The ninth already ruled. Internal union dispute.

Really? Is that why you don't have DOH and you are still on LOA93? Greedy east pilots, shooting off all their toes, AWA should have let you go Chapter 7 and pick at the remains....

Please don't turn yet another thread into a pilots pissing match, give it a break already...

Wrong.....The provisions of Allegheny-Mohawk would decide the seniority. When AA purchased TWA, the TWU and IAM went to binding arbitration, hence the Kasher ruling. The only thing Carty was able to do was give the TWA people 100% company time.

I agree that Parker will not go that route. His team has stressed the importance of having labor on board with AA, unlike what took place with DL. If he does pull this deal off, we all need to stop the petty crap and focus on working together. If this merger happens, it is all of our last chances to get it together and run a united and strong airline.

I can't speak for the other union leadership, but I know the APA is indeed in advanced talks not only with USAirways management, but also USAPA.

This is not just a simple "choice" of blindly taking a merger and let the chips fall where they may. From the information I have gathered so far, this is about offering our support on the UCC for a merger in return for and industry leading contract. The negotiations with USAPA are to try and get an SLI package finalized BEFORE committing to any contract or deal with USAirways. IOW, unless it is a really good deal, we will end up "taking our chances" with the 1113c, let them impose, then go right into Section 6.

Things are happening very fast and the situation is very fluid. I had dismissed this at first but after I saw the desperation letter from VP of Flight John Hale and the other "AA should not merge" letters from politicians like Kay Bailey Hutchison that kind of confirmed the fact that AA management is getting nervous and pulling out all the stops to retain control.

The situation could change very quickly. Horton may all of a sudden offer up quite a bit better package in order to try and retain our loyalty. This whole thing with the APA and USAirways could all be a ruse, but either way I think that we are in a much better position now. My message to APA is....."well played".

Talk about a huge loss of face for AA management if they let this company slip through their fingers. The loss of the millions of PUP bucks! The horror!

AA in most of its contract language re: Alle / Mohawk has a little more language than US IAM. Something about being disadvantaged re: Mergers . It would be no skin off DP's back to insert such language in the IAM wording to maintain neutrality. Otherwise..................could be trouble in Paradise !!!!!

Greetings, I am a first time poster on this forum although having been a strong reader of it for some time. I wanted to chime in. I am not a Pilot / FA, I work in technology, I am an IT dude. I have nothing to do with any applications, programing, and decision making of what application is chosen for any specific purpose, my job is to make sure that all of the cable and wires work to the best of my ability. I am a worker bee. I do not have a pension and I am not a Union member. I travel the country to specific locations to ensure that if there is a gate move or a new concourse or any build out, that it is done correctly and within budget.

I played a significant part in the America West / USAirways merger, I had a ground level view of what happened and the end result on the people that show up to greet people and make sure that the bags were on the plane and they ticket was correct. I watched as people’s lives were affected, jobs lost, families hurt and their world was turned upside down, including mine. I was fortunate as I survived; I don’t know if that will happen if the USAirways / AA merger does indeed happen, which, I believe will. Until then, I will show up, do the best job that I can, because that is what the company pays me to do. I am old school, I firmly believe that I get paid for a good day’s work and a good day’s pay; I am not owed any more than that. Again, I do not have a vested interest in a Pension or Union issues.

Consolidation is going to happen; I don’t believe that there will be any announcement of any kind for some months concerning any ‘speculation’ of a merger (now having said that, watch something happen after I post this). What I do know and this is strictly from reading materials of a financial nature, is that, the largest lenders in this country love the boys in Tempe, I am referring to the US Govt., GE, Wall Street. Like it or not, when the America West /US merger happened, people made a ton of money, for investors. AA does not have that track record; it is just the way it is. Legacy airlines have a legacy mentality; this was evident to me first hand during the AWA/US merger. The feeling of “I am entitled” from the east, has caused such a division in the current USAirways, that I don’t believe that it can be repaired. It is no body’s fault, it is culture. Until that Legacy Culture changes there will be nothing but strife and discontent. During my journey’s on the east, I was amazed, speechless, that people I had a direct contact with in the first five minutes of a conversation, wanted me to know just how long they had been with the airline and how they have been screwed by that airline. The feeling again of “I am owed” just astounded me. I often wondered to myself, if there was such discontent, why stay? Why put up with it. I guess that if it all that you know, you are boxed in, unless you have the ability to do something else.

Money from investors will drive this merger and the windfall of that investment. I would love to see AA make it and US continue to stand alone, however, again, I do not believe that will happen. I have the utmost respect for Professional Pilots and Flight Attendants, Mechanics, but I would be remise if I didn’t point out, that those three groups are not the only ones affected. So I will show up and do my job and be grateful that I have one.

Peace
