US Airways Group, Inc. Reports First Quarter 2008 Results

Local news in PHX is buzzing about a UA/US merger possibility this morning.

Also, take note of the comment about "al a carte" coming in the future. This was hashed out about a year ago, put to the side, but it looks like measures will have be taken soon to improve revenue.

You need to understand for whom the press release is targeted, and it isn't for you, the employee.

Like the snake-oil saleman, the Tom Friedman unit, any promises will be made that keep the suckers sending in their money.

We're not really screwed until we hear the obligatory "Crossroads Speech."

That came last week when we got the letter from Doug to dispel the rumors of a merger between US/UA. It was pretty much the same letter he sent out right before the HP/US merger.

Unfortunately, the majority of the flying public want low fares. Period. It looks as if the days of receiving the "perks" and not paying for them are coming to an end. US was just first in line to implement; the others will follow.....

On the webcast, Doug mentioned: "we are proponents of consolidation and will always be open to talking if it works for the emplolyees, shareholders and customers". Nothing new here, just note that "they are talking".

and, unfortunately, the majority of the driving public want cheap cars. Period.

and, US was not "first in line". They are simply another in a long line of overwhelmingly failed carriers.

anyone check the lead content of the Tempe drinking fountains? recently?

And steps will be taken to remove revenue if that happens. See how this works?
