US AIRWAYS might up bid for DL another 1 BILLION

i have to agree, this is getting way out of hand. delta clearly dosen't want to get together with airways. let them be already. it's getting a little humiliating. doug , i sure hope you know what your doing.

Based on everything i've read today, the ad hoc group (unofficial creditors committee) is the one's really pushing this $1 billion dollar increase to the official creditors committee.

I'm curious though, if they asked for an additional $2 billion and all Doogie could/would come back with was $1 billion, does that mean his credit is tapped out?

I'm also curious to know if the ad hoc group is acting as sort of intermediaries for the official creditors committee and they (official creditors)were really the ones who came up with the $2 billion dollar number? Sounds to me like if Doogie can find another billion or so, the official creditors are willing to talk....interesting....

Maybe Doogie is just negotiating. They ask for 2, he comes back with 1. The creditors must be interested somewhat, as they are negotiating. I wish this deal would just die and go away.

Is anyone else starting to feel embarrassed for Doogie and his obsession with Delta? Move on already, they're not interested!

I hope all the labor groups are watching his willingness to throw BILLIONS around.

That’s why it’s called hostile

Right, I think we all get that part. I guess what I was trying to emphasize is how it appears.

(1) The initial offer is now only a few months old and the offer has gone up twice - to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars more. If this deal was always a gamble, then he's blinked - twice.

(2) I think that we will all allow for the fact that most of these BILLIONS are from outside investors, but it gives off the appearance that US is throwing money at this deal. Doogie has employees that are barely hanging on financially. I know of flight attendants who are barely surviving on $.25c boxes of mac & chesse and $.69c cans of tuna fish. And before anyone says that "no one's holding a gun to their head to stay @ US", take a good hard look at what jobs are available out there. These same corporate giants guiding this DL/US deal are the same ones that have been destroying America's middle class. They'll slide BILLIONS around on their spreadsheets from their ivory towers and turn around and begrudge a decent living wage to their employees. I hope this p*ssing contest comes back to bite Doogie in the *ss when he tries his cost/neutral mantra going forward.

(3) Finally, Delta doesn't want US as their dance partner. From management to rank-and-file, they have said NO! If Doogie thinks that this deal is a good way to bust up his unions, he had better revisit that notion. My guess is that, if his hostile takeover works, the Delta employees will forever loath him. They will unionize just to spite him.

Spending too much for another airline is what US does best. They did it with PSA and PI.

The debt from that eventually led to Chapt. 11.

Wonder where the debt for this one will lead?

Either way, Doug and the execs will walk away with millions.
