Us Airways Obtains Second $125 Million

Maybe, after we come out of bankruptcy protection, we can finance Airbuses instead of RJ's. It seems to me to make sense to let the regionals finance the RJ's and we concentrate on operating mainline aircraft.
Did you notice that Chatauqua is lowering their fee by 3%?
USA320 was right again!

(I put that in just to tee you guys off!)

If you think 170's and 190's are RJ's you might want to step inside one. Its all about divide and conquer. You think because its not your aircraft you are not in the crosshairs?

I'm not taking it personally. From a business standpoint it makes sense. And this is business.

Mainline is next. All this selling of slots and a/c of EMB along with MAA is buying time...

They're coming to get you too....

Just wait..6 months tops for your kind.
And keeping MAA flying is going to be a nightmare for U. Those folks who are losing their jobs may not even show up.

Jim,

You are right. Only the a/c (all of them) is being sold, therefore, they got around the language. I believe Republic may be non-union as well.

You're not kidding.....

I look for schedulers to not show up, FA's to not show up, Pilot's not to show up.....

Scheduling just brought 4 new people on the property today, and the last new hire class was as early as Feb 22. It was the class that had gotten fired from Mainline after only completing 6 months. The Union fought to bring them back as furloughed, and won. Now, 3 years later, they are brought back to MAA to be furloughed, YET AGAIN, 2-3 months later. What a blow.

So the rj's go to Republic and the MAA employees go to the street.

Yeah....MAA employees go to the street...again.

At least Jerry Glass can go home tonight, knowing he has a
$25,000 a month salary to look forward to.

He needs to choke. And I mean that in the sincerest way possible.

If US sells assets, 75% of that $110 million as the ATSB agreement stands now has to go to them and US will only get 25% of the $110 million.

I believe it’s important to note that Chautauqua is the only affiliate carrier to have its “fee for serviceâ€￾ contract affirmed, albeit with a 3% reduction. The new agreement provides for cost plus 5% on the existing 35 ERJ-145 fleet effective upon court approval of the agreement; a one-time option for US Airways to remove 5 ERJ-145 aircraft from the existing Chautauqua JSA; under certain specific conditions, a one time right to remove an additional 10 ERJ-145 aircraft from the existing Chautauqua JSA; and a term extension of one year, from March 2012 to March 2013.

This will help US airways lower its costs.

In addition, the 113 slots at DCA and 24 slots at LGA sold to Chautauqua are commuter slots and will not effect mainline operations, but will be used by Chautauqua for US Airways Express service.

As I indicated a few days ago, expect the ATSB agreement to be adjusted shortly, since Lakefield told the MEC the ATSB wants the company to survive and is working with management.

Moreover, if Mesa and/or TSA do not play ball they will be replaced by Air Wisconsin, according to Lakefield's comments to the ALPA MEC last week.

USA320Pilot

Lakefield can threaten Ornstein all he wants...U is in no position to negotiate.

Ornstein can just buy USAirways, and kick lakefield to the street with him and his gang of thugs.

At this point, I really don't care who takes U, they are all amebas

Wexford Capital/Republic Airways Q & A

The Republic/Wexford investment agreement is contingent on our securing at least $100 million more in equity financing, and we continue to talk to "a number" of interested parties. We have every reason to believe that we will raise at least $350 million of emergence equity financing, along with added liquidity from certain financing transactions to supplement our existing cash that remains from the ATSB loan.

See Story

USA320Pilot comments: Some of the interested parties are Mesa, TSA, EDS, GE, MatlinPatterson, RSA, and other private equity firms.

USA320Pilot

Q. If Chautauqua and Republic – as well Air Wisconsin – are all going to get more flying from US Airways Express, does that mean that other US Airways Express carriers will see their flying reduced?

A. While there is a limit to the level of 50-seat regional jet flying that can be supported in the US Airways network, we continue to work with our partners on options for 70- and 90-seat aircraft. We cannot predict the final outcome of our negotiations with our regional partners.

USA320Pilot

Do not be surprised if PSA and Piedmont are sold too, and Mesa and/or TSA do not have their RJ "fee for service" agreements affirmed. Could Brian Bedford have trumped Jonathon Ornstein or even forced the other two affilaite RJ operators to provide US Airways with an even greater concession?

Justaumechanic:

What would you do as CEO with crude oil at $55 per barrel? Guess what? Every other legacy carrier faces the same problems too. Watch what happens with DL & UA, which is why Lakefield told the MEC the Air Wisconsin deal has the “industry spinning aroundâ€￾ and has “UAL confusedâ€￾ (on what to do next).

Just trying to figure out how this would not disrupt passanger service. They going to hault the service for a short period of time. I would think that most Pilots, Mechanics, Flight Attendants, etc.. would need to go with the shift in order to transition this move. Are they going to slowly rehire as they furlough current MDA employees.

Just thinking out loud
