US back to Daytona Beach, FL

Not to nitpick, but I don't think that Express only service (although I'm glad that it will be added" is the same as "US back to Daytona Beach".
 
DAB, MLB, SAT, AUS and TUS were the 5 destinations that Wolfe axed in 97.

Ironically, the first Airways scheme painted aircraft, a 737-400, did it's first day CLT-MLB-CLT-DCA-???

Actaully, it was ABQ not TUS. IIRC, TUS was axed in 92 or 93. At the same time (Sept 97), mainline service was discontinued to ISP, SWF, CVG, and BGR.
 
Well I guess we'll see the usual DAB crowd in CLT when Bike Week comes around. Ya know the ones....gals with huge teeters and Jack Daniels t-shirts hangin out all over and guys with half a strand of hair pulled back into their brades. Did I just describe my daddy? 😱 I have family just outside of DAB so it will be nice to have the ability to nonrev there though as mentioned flights were usually full, full, full.
 
The 737-200?? Didn't US Airways turn those into the MetroJet Birds? I remember IAD and BWI were full of them. I think US Airways before 9-11 had all of concourse B at Dulles and all of the D Pier at BWI. Both were huge stations.

Interesting. I wonder what US could have done differently to aviod BKII. US had all the traffic/passengers out of BWI during those days. I guess the operating costs were way too high. I just wonder what the could have done differently than running away from BWI because US's planes were packed to the heals from BWI.

Not really sure how they did out of IAD. I know US use to even have transcons from IAD to LAX, SFO, SAN even the Shuttle to NYC and BOS. But I am not sure how they faired against UA, AA and DL.

US never had transcons out of IAD, but we did out of BWI. Shuttle flights only officially operated from DCA. There may have been some (Shuttle) flights temporarily transferred to IAD right after 9/11, while DCA was closed for a few months. I seem to recall that.

we actually did have a less robust shuttle operation between iad-bos/lga. i cannot remember what the schedule was, though. the dc-9s were deployed on those routes until retirement. in fact, they painted some dc-9s with the "wolf" livery and used them on the iad "shuttle" operation.

I do remember specifically Shuttle flights out of IAD even before 9-11 as I flew on a few. I can't remember the exact schedule either. I want to say they were every hour but I can't be 100% sure on that but I do remember them. The IAD to LGA and BOS did not last long though. I remember in Attache magazine when they announced that you now could take the shuttle from Washington's two airports DCA or IAD.

I could have sworn US did have transcons flights out of IAD but I guess not. I know they had many flights to many other desintations out of IAD. Heck they had the entire concouse B to themselves with many, many gates.

Here's a thought...If the flights are FULL FULL FULL then why not raise the fares?
BTW i also agree that when Republic picks up flying it is not considered growth.
 
well, there are a bunch of extra sections and aircraft up-gauges to 733s and 734s duing the weeks of 2/10 and 2/17/08...

Still can't book them on the website, even though yesterday's press release claims you can. <_<

That is a good question why they didn't raise the fares. But out of BWI they were full. I guess old US figured they better match WN since at that time they were invading BWI.
