How about passengers who misconnect daily on flights out of PHL ! Sometimes leave 40-60 passengers off of transatlantic flights. No gate holds for them and no flight to their final destination until next day. Alot of them with emergency situations at home. Have you ever connected from an internation flight ? Well, you go through customs and immigration, then you recheck your bag if the agent can get the baggage tag out. Then you schlep yourself after a very long flight curbside from a west to domestic b, c or f ticket counter. Then you must re check in at the counter if they can find your reservation, proceed to stand in long security lines to get to the gates. Then they pull your jetway while you stand at the window of your departure gate and watch it push off. The gate agent can't reaccomodate you because they don't know how. You are sent to the special service counter to be re-booked. Estimated wait 1-3 hours depending on the misconnects in line. Now it is 900 pm and there are no hotel accommodations because it was a bad weather night and the hotels are full. A city employee hands you an aluminum blanket to sleep on the floor of your gate lounge and if you are lucky a manager will rummage through a dirty aircraft and find you a "unhealthy" pillow. You have no more formula and diapers for your baby because you just packed enough to get you home. The food court is closed and it is survival of the fitest if you wonder out of security looking for water and food. The homeless will share a water with you in the walkways to the garage where you set up tents until the following morning. You arrive at c29 for your flight the next morning to be told there has been a cancellation. You stand on line at special services once again to have your ticket (hopefully if qik/shares works) re-issued only to find that the new gate is a west gate 26. This is no joke, it happens all the time in PHL and in CLT!!!!!!!
Now your become totally irrate and the manager calls the PHL police department to escort you out of the building. They reaccomodate you on United and you have a wonderful flight.
I dare anyone to say this doesn't happen!

Unfortunately this happens more times than not.... A couple of weeks ago, we had a family travelling internationally whose outbound domestic flight had cancelled. They had come to the DCA Special Service desk for two days straight. The agent repeatedly put them on stand-by flights throughout the two days. Finally they came to me, as their original agent was not available. I analyzed their situation and found seats for the family of five, via some very creative itineraries and got them where they had to go. Sometimes at night (I am told by the evening SS Reps), when there are many misconnects and cancelled flights, often the Police have to come for crowd control. It's maddening... It wasn't like this before...well... <sigh>

while waiting for my SJU flt (3 hrs late) at PHL i sat in A-west for several hours and saw at least the AMS flt held for a few extra minutes. Are transatlantic rarely held for connecting paxs just as domestic flts are?

I saw electric carts carry at least 20-30 people to A-west for the AMS flt. Of course it was at the end of A-west and so any delayed domestic flts would have made it almost impossible for people to walk from B/C to A

However have to agree about the rebooking process. A few flts were cancelled due to rainstorms in the Northeast last week(not the noreaster) and it was chaos at the ticket counter. No one knew where to go in order to rebook and the general check in counter had to be at least 1-2 hours long. Luckly i went to the self service counters and it only took about 10 minutes, however as usual many people were having problems with them and only 5-8 agents helping people. I only carried on so i didn't have to deal with any agents.

Why not issue the passenger those Segway Personal Transporters? It'll be like watching a "Real life JETSONS". They can race the cops there as well. If they go to fast, look at all the revenue it would bring in by issueing Speeding Tickets.

US Airways New People Movers!

That happens all the time to me now since I fly mostly United - certainly is better than US! I don't even go through the motions of booking on US anymore - why do that?

Actually US does have a customer who travels with his Segway PT. I've seen him check-in a few times when I worked in FLL (pre-LCC)!

Maybe that's why US doesn't allow the Segway on aircraft anymore. You might actually catch your flight, and we can't have that now, can we?
Peace and Tranquillity in an US Airways Terminal. :)

Huh! What a Dream, I knew it was too good to be happening. Darn Sleeping Pills making me halucinate again. <_<

That was an HP Operated Flight!

Darn, no $100 hattrick. (Big surprise right?)
Hey, at least we had Jetblue to keep us from the bottom.
On time 17/20
Baggage 14/20
DBs Invol 9/20
Complaints 19/20
Pretty impressive numbers. (I know the Valentines day storm caused all our numbers to drop. And we have the St Pattys day storm to blame for our March numbers!)
