US Express/Piedmont to take over operations at ANC

They need to be unionized to bring their wages up so it doesnt make it easier for the company to outsource mainline jobs to express, I know the IAM tried several times and the CWA tried, the EN workers dont get it, they are doing the same job as mainline for half the pay.

Actually 700 if you compare Express vs Mainline benefit for benefit a topped out Mainline employee only makes about a couple bucks more then a topped out Wholly owned. (ground support only) the more junior you go Express makes more including new hire. The Piedmont staff enjoy a MUCH better medical package then their Mainline counterparts. Example full coverage is actually 90% coverage ($10.00 co-pays) 100% hospitalization coverage. And the average cost of a presciption is about $3-$5 and non-generic is not much more. Total cost is $135.00 per month (Employee and spouse)

Your telling me that Express makes almost $20 an hour and has a company paid pension?

And when a mainline station closes those employees have somewhat bumping rights, what is going to happen to the employees in LGA for EN?

Do you have a grievance procedure?

I have worked on campaigns to unionize express to see EN give raises and when the vote fails take them back.

No, they do not have a company paid pension, don't have double time, don't have a grievance procedure, and aren't making just a couple dollars less at top out like the previous poster mentioned. The IAM ramp will be up to $19.77 in 4 months, the Piedmont worker comes in well under $15. They don't have 7 holidays either.
IAM Air Wisconsin members went through bankruptcy but they are still doing alot better than the Piedmont workers, but then again the Air Wisconsin members have a union.

Also, the IAM has unfortunately not sought out the Piedmont group since the CWA has claimed turf with this unit for 10 years now and has lost 3 elections.

as a former EN agent I can honestly say that that outfit is not one to work for. Since I left, they have changed their pay scale--7.50 an hr to start and 10.00 to end after 10 yrs. That came from my friends who are EN employees. They dont have a pension--just a 401k which EN does do a 5% match. I always attempted to go full time yet they refused to give me full time yet gave it to someone else and she wound up not knowing ops or ramp i did. but i refused to help her. if they dont go union then they are on their own. i for one am glad to be back at mainline. as for their medical, the full timers get decent but part time well that is worse. Also if you swap and go below 36 hours at EN you will get reduced from ft to pt. in a union that is not allowed.

Let's clarify some of the above INFO. ONLY new stations are capped at $7.50-10.00 per hr. EN gets all holidays at TIME and HALF. You are wrong on the swap at 36 hrs. As long as you swap no problem however if you fall below 32 hr avg for two consecutive quarters by trading your shifts away you can be forced to PT.

Doing better taking and replacing union jobs at mainline airlines

Watch out if Piedmont goes union deals will be cut with the companies and unions
to kept them on are off the property. The company’s love to whipsaw the unions
IAM Air Wisconsin replace mainline IAM workers at UA NW USAirways closed some mainline maintenance stations and IAM Air Wisconsin came in with there RJ and mechanics and replace the work

No union can stop a company from opening or closing a station, if you can prove me different then let me know.

And ZW doesnt fly for NW.

Oh and the CWA does anything better for their members? How come their can be changes and amedments without any input or a vote from the membership?

And ZW doesnt fly for NW.
They replace some ground handling for NW mainline. Just recently with the DL/NW merge it went to the newly creative non-union ground hading company.Kev3188 can tell you the whole story

It’s all about scope language
CWA 1999 contract only allowed CWA members to work all mainline flight with all the concession and two bankruptcies scope language has been beat up and vote out by its members. The company can now operate up to two mainline flights a day and to a station and contract it out
