Assuming the LGA swap deal is completed, this will leave a lot of DH8 and CRJ without a place to go. Most of the Express flight in/out of LGA is either Piedmont or Air Wisconsin. Piedmont is easy to Tempe to manipulate but Air Wisconsin is another matter. Since they have a contract with US to fly 70 CRJs unitl 2015, where is US going to be using them?

Air Whiskey will likely move most of the LGA aircraft to DCA. Piedmont is the big question mark. DO those aircraft get moved to PHL or CLT, or do they park another dozen aircraft? Considering the 11 that were returned to lessors last year, parking another dozen would be an obvious sign that the end is near for them as an airline.

I think the Mesa situation will have a major impact on this too. If US cuts the contract when they exit bankruptcy, those aircraft will need to be replaced in some way.

Our 100's from the LGA operation can not be moved to PHX. The weight and performance issues the Dh 100's have would make the whole operation a waste of time . You would be better just parking them. But you could send all 11 DH 300's out there!! Or just get more 300's.

Moving some PSA or Air Whiskey RJs out west would make more room for Dash's in PHL or CLT. There's also the possibility of parking some of the oldest 100s (906, 907, 911, etc..) and adding 200s for potential Piedmont ops in PHX. I still have a hard time seeing Piedmont flying beyond about five years out unless there are new aircraft ordered.

Or does Mesa in BK reject the leases on the DH8-200 they currently operate and PDT (Airways) swoops in for a deal. I understand Horizon is phasing out all their 200's in place of the Q400's. Which brings in another question. Since Republic is cancelling the Lynx 400's as part of the F9 BK emergence could PDT pick up the QVC under a WEST operation and avoid the scope language of the East and fly them strickly out of PHX?

PS: right now no additional 300's on the market for leasing.

Nope. Except for pilots and FA's there is no East and West operation so any Express flying has to comply with both pilot contracts. Same in principle as the Emb170's and CRJ900's - the 170's complied with the East contract and the 900's complied with the West contract but the combination was contrary to both contracts (too many that size) so modifications to both contract's scope had to be made with the transition agreement.

The rumor is SBY: Piedmont fleet will remain at current levels for the forseeable future. LGA flying will be relocated to PHL and the majority going to CLT. No new markets, just a minimal increase in flights at existing markets.

It would be interesting to see Piedmont send some the dash-8 to MCO. A while back Piedmont (Henson) had a nice little intra-state operation in Florida.

Another 10 or so 300's would be a great addition to Piedmont. Something to compete with Colgan and their 400s.

Scope, at least in the East contract, won't let any Express carrier fly the Q400's and the 86 seaters are at the limit allowed by the transition agreement (or above the limit per USAPA), so there'll be no more of those either unless scope changes.

My 1/100 scale US Airways dash-8-100 in new colors was just delivered to my mail box this afternoon from the Airplane Superstore. Not bad for $31.95. Skymark Model also offer a US Airways dash-8-300 in the old colors. Would be neat if they offered the 300 in new colors.
