US Flight 707

US 707 PHL-SFO for the last three days has stopped in MCI. Its an A320. Not even a A321.
US Airways Flt. 707 Airbus 320

Have the westerlies been unusually strong of late? The range of said aircraft is allegedly 3,000nm. More than enough to handle PHL-SFO, even with strong headwinds and a full load. There must be some serious restrictions placed on these aircraft that we don't know about.

We Came From Phl-Lax Tonight...No Problem...With A Full Load! On A 320..

And LAX didn't have a delay program go into effect after your flight was airborne.

i've worked 707. stopped in las. due to heavy load....put on max fuel that they could to get off the ground and winds not in our favor. still sucks for our pax and the crews. if it aint boeing am not going!!! think the 737 not looking so bad

slightly on topic

America West is operating SAN-PHL with a A319, that stopped in ABQ yesterday, not sure if it is fuel related

I've flown PHX-BDL and had to stop for gas in MCI. The reason: a nor'easter made our weather alternate Cleveland. It happens.

If the A320 can't make it, then you can forget a 737-300. I never flew a 300 to the west coast that wasn't tight on fuel. On the other hand, rarely have I had to fill an Airbus to the top with gas to make it.

Not sure what's going on.

It has to be the additional seats. UA189 made it on the route. But 3 days in a row, is this the beginning of a trend?

It's probably alternate selection, if you know what that is. Use a 737   thats rich. This board is worse than the media when it comes to aviation knowledge.

just meant that the 737 trips with its 4/5 legs aday are'nt looking to bad instead of working the redone a320's. cant even turn on a reading light over the front jumpseat without lighting up the f/c cabin. just is tacky. also remember flying the 300 out to the west from baltimore. never once had a fuel stop. airbus sucks!!

So I guess adding that extra row of seats to the A320 has really screwed things up. Question. Now that US has to make a pit stop in the middle of the USA. Isn't this going to cost US more than having those few extra seats? More fuel, more landing and take off fees? And of course more customers leaving!

Tempe sounds penny wise and dollar stupid!

Doesn't the airport that they make a fuel stop at also get smacked with a Landing Fee?

Sure does. Landing fees, cost for refuling and extra time paid to crew for such a stop. What is the cost savings for those seats again? they send us emails on slide deployments costing $30,000, what do these fuel stops cost Tempe? Dare you publish the truth or stick your head in the sand like an Ostich?
