US Flight 707

This is going to sound like a joke but it's actually not.

On a yearly flight to RSW we stopped in Charlotte and picked up about 5 crates full of ferrets every single week and several years ago. I am not joking, this was on Mondays ~10am. I worried about the little things getting loose in the cargo hold, and once there was a thunderstorm and they covered them with a blue tarp and I worried about them suffocating. I promise this isn't a joke, I wish I had a digital pic, but, is there some sort of cargo that 707 is carrying?

If someone's out there who remembers the ferrets going to RSW I'd love to hear some details, one of those little fascinations 😀

I have seen human eyeballs getting rushed onboard (in a brown box) but they don't weigh too much I don't think...

Since this flight began operating this route on 3/26, it has stopped on these dates/places:

4/22 - STL
4/20 - MCI
4/19 - MCI
4/17 - MCI
4/11 - LAS
4/8 - LAS
4/5 - MCI
4/3 - MCI

All other days it ran nonstop. Of those days, it ran with a 321 on:

4/21 (5:18)
4/16 (5:24)
4/14 (5:29)
4/7 (5:20)
3/31 (5:22)

On the other days, it ran with a 320. All the times were between 5:16 and 6:08, with the average groundspeed between 450 and 470 kts. But on the days of diversion, the groundspeeds were roughly in line with the other days the 320 went nonstop.

Either way, it should be obvious why the "old" USAirways ran these long transcons primarily with the 319, 321 or 757. Adding seats to the 320 and then expecting it to make a trip that it wasn't designed for is just foolish.

And frankly, if I was a regular PHL-SFO flyer, I'd have moved the business to UA after just one of these side show antics. UA #185 and #189, for example, has made the trip every day that FlightAware is showing back to 12/26/06 without EVER making a mid-continent stop.

Surprise, surprise....it's operated with a 319 on times ranging from 5:01 to 6:20 (nasty Feb winds).

But our friends in Tempe know something the rest of the airline industry executives don't I guess.

HUH ? I think those were old USA routes before the merger, HP flys 319's on the PHL/SFO/PHL routes, so Tempe had nothing to do with that one.

That's the point.Until the wizards at the Sandcastle started tinkering with the aircraft routings and aircraft configurations, it was RARE to make a Westbound fuel stop. Even in the A320.

Something's got to give, and soon, or USAirways will be driving customers away in droves.

924PS, True and the answer is keep all ops seperate. Lets stay good at what each side does. We have our niche that we know how to doin the west and you guys in the east have your good qualities too, but they can't be combined.

Sure. Just pay me accordingly. I'm tired of doing the same job for less money than my HP counterpart.

Are you sure you're not a shill for Dougie and Jerry Glass? I know that's exactly their plan, no matter what they say publicly.

It's going to be a long hot summer if they don't put these two airlines together. And it will impact the bottom line and customer good will,in a traditionally good quarter financially.

And by the way, the only thing I've seen good about HP is the employees. And I don't mean senior management. Nothing is better than it was before the merger. In fact in many ways it is worse, operationally and customer service wise.

It's been said many times before, but you guys know the price of everything but the value of nothing. I hope those 8 extra seats on the A320 generate sufficient revenue to offset the pissed off customers that will never choose USAirways for their next airline booking.

I hope we all get to a level pay field. No shil here in fact my job is being eliminated because of the merger and the move to PIT.

Sorry to hear that. Rumor is they want to leave some functions in PHX so as not to lose quality employees. Perhaps you will get a reprieve. I hope so.
