US leaves LAX T-1; Southwest now sole airline

US Airways has left LAX Terminal One, leaving Soutwest/Airtran as the only carrier there. Will Southwest add LAX flights as a result?

WN has high enough gate utilization now that they will be able to justify their gate acquisitions now for longer term use down the road.

The chances of any net significant increase in WN activity at LAX outside of DAL expansion is slim.

They actually needed those US gates so they can schedule more 800's as they cannot fit in the odd numbered gates due the the blast/barrier wall.

this validates exactly what we have seen elsewhere on WN's system - flat to increased capacity thru increased gauge and flat or reduced number of operations.

Bigger airplanes on the same number of or fewer flights at LAX other than to DAL will likely be WN's strategy in the next year.
