The thing is that Doug Parker has not done it!! Merge 2 airlines that is.

I found the last two questions of the interview to be very interesting:

It sounds like US is involved either directly or indirectly these scenerios. IE: Aquiring some type of assets to appease the regulators

But what do I know - I'm the one that in early 2005 said no airline would be foolish enough to want US. They'd just wait for the liquidation sale and pick up some pieces.

You have to read between the lines and go back to pre-merger with Doug. Something is in the works and who knows how it will play out. Be careful what you wish for here. If AA (dougs former employer) is in the play...just think, TWA.

Can't staple anymore. There was legislation passed after AA stapled TWA to stop that scenario. There has to be a fair integration at the least.

No the law states Allegheny-Mohawk LPPs, it doesnt stop a stapling or demand DOH.

same process was all ready used at US and HP ALPA and you saw its success.

There is nothing in the law that prohibits stapling. It simply states that if the groups can not come to a fair and equitable agreement, the issue will be decided by an arbitrator. However, the arbitrator is free to decide FOR stapling. Though that is unlikely, it would be perfectly legal.
