US Ready to Report Profit

Yeah, there is no such thing as positive news, everyone has to use every opportunity to whine about something.

Good job US!

When a profit is earned by treating employees poorly and confiscating Frequent Flyer miles from Customers after they responded to the TIB promotion and actually dared to try to use them kind of takes the luster off the good profit numbers.

RE:Water Bottles

OSHA is the appropriate channel to address the issue. However it's going to be quite interesting given that the Trained Shoe Analysts (TSA) appears to be the culprit. Truth is if the TSA is indeed the culprit, US Airways should secretly back an OSHA inquiry as it is in US's best interest to have hydrated workers performing at peak levels.

Thanks for throwing us a bone there, the employees that is. Well friend, I think you have a valid couple of points, but I don't think anybody's been interested in taking the moral high ground in this industry since the 80's or so; the lament of the employee and passenger is an aging one as ever unheeded. Being an employee who in the past three years has seen his seniority crawl in the wrong direction and job security slide slowly towards an abyss at a shrinking airline that's nervously trying to prove it can survive as a stand-alone I'll gladly take a profitable quarter even if it means management still sucks and the FF's are still angry. This is stuff that has to be worked on, but who's to say what might be changed or set in motion now that a profit's expected?

Unnecessary, because:

empty bottles can be filled after passing through security.
I'd rather just trouble myself with a half gallon of delicious frosty cubed iced and purified water from the break room if it means not having to deal with passenger indignation of an employee exemption from a touchy TSA rule...

The TSA thugs have been taking away water for almost four years.

Yeah and apple sauce and yogurt and Spaghetti-o's and peanut butter. In PHX we have ice machines and purified water dispensers (and vending machines) in each of the break rooms and drinking fountains ramp side.

Aren't airline employees exempt from the TSA's War On Water™?

Anyone (crew and passsengers) can bring empty bottles through security.

How did this discussion drift from US Airways turning a profit to a #### session about water bottles? Good Lord!!!!!

Swiftly and surely, now let's see if we can get it back on track. 177 million is a pretty nice number actually. As I said in my earlier post some of the Lustre is gone due to how it was earned. OTOH the employees aren't exactly being paid 90 cents a ton to load coal 6 days a week 12 hours a day either.

Another simple truth is that in a capitalist society you NEED profit. For profit is the well from which all good things flow. Raises, Better bennies, more amenities, etc etc it all starts with Profit. It's not a dirty word

Profit is a well that has poisoned the Gulf of Mexico.

Bad things flow from profit, too.

Dog,

That incident will play out all by its lonesome. I was strictly referring to US Airways in an attempt to get the topic back on topic. Everything employees and customers desire stem from a profitable well run airline. If we can't get well run, let's go for p[rofitable.

These placings and numbers seem to indicate that US is running well:

The wells and profit thing touches a nerve. When profts overrule any corporate ethic (in most cases an oxymoron) bad things happen. The poisoning of the Gulf is not by its lonesome. 11 men died. A culture is being destroyed. An irreplaceable environment is being wiped out day by day. A corporation that made $16,000,000,000 profit last year caused it by pursuing more profit.

It is not a singular event. In the Walmartization of America, profits go to people already having more money than they can spend, and wanting more. Time will tell if US Airways profits will go to the people who work the front line.

I doubt it.

If this is true, it's time to wake up in Tempe & start paying your employees who make it happen. It's also time to STOP working us short handed every day in this heat. It is taking a BIG toll. Here in CLT they don't even let us have water

Same thing for the gate agents in PHX - no water bottles in public view, must be locked up in the cabinets or break rooms.
