On the route here, I'd say the passengers/ DM members got cheated out of some miles.

Cheated Miles

I know the rule its the actual miles between the airports, not this route.

US is not alone in this respect. A couple of months ago I was on a CO flight from EWR-LAX which got diverted to a more Southern route to avoid weather. An hour into the flight, the moving map showed that we had almost 2,400 miles left, and the published mileage is 2454. The flight lasted an hour longer than the norm, so I suspect we flew a few hundred miles out of our way.......yet I only received 2,454 miles for the flight.

Those weren't "Cheated miles", those were "Safety" miles so you could get to where you were

going safely.

I understand that and agree. Its just the route that they took almost to Nashville and Cleveland. It was just an odd route. I should have made that a different title.

Coming home from Hawaii, our PHX-EWR flight was diverted to Hartford for a fuel stop before taking off again for EWR. With an overall 4 hour delay, caused solely by EWR weather and traffic problems, it would have to been nice to get miles for PHX-BDL and BDL-EWR.

We still haven't received credit for the first flight, a US codeshare on Hawaiian, from HNL-OGG.

I really don't think that there should be extra miles added because of either FAA routings or any safety issue. The bookkeeping would be horrendous and the last thing you need is some beancounter griping at flight ops because a captain is costing the FF program extra miles.

The HNL-OGG could have been a booking code issue. Two years ago my OGG-HNL would not credit to US, because it was booked in a class that did not earn miles.

Check out http://www.usairways.com/awa/content/divid...iian%20Airlines

If you were booked in one of those I'd contact web chat or DM Service Center for crediting of the miles. Remember, if you are Preferred, you should be getting 500 miles for that segment, and they count towards elite requalification.
