He only made one mistake, using a long rifle instead of a flame thrower...

But on the other hand...its ok to mutilate and decapitate US soldiers in the name of ALLAH.

Boosheet
Where have we ever said that? I think the story is silly, but good lord, the things that have been done by some in the name of JESUS isn't something to be that proud of...should we condemn all Christians because of those acts? Shoot....even our president has implied that we are doing "God's will" over there in Iraq.

OH come on people. The US is over there trying to make friends and ‘spread democracy’ over there. Some yahoo takes out a holy book and a rifle and that is not supposed to piss them off? What kind of moron does that? You have to seriously wonder what was rattling around between the few remaining brain cells he has.

When what’s his face put a statue of Jesus in urine, a whole lot of people got really ticked off. What is the difference. Yes some Muslims are nuts. They can commiserate with the crazy Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and all the other nut jobs out there. The rest of us should respect people beliefs regardless of whether or not we agree with them or not. It is a simple matter of respect.

I fail to see why this is so difficult to comprehend and I fail to see why anyone would support his actions.

Frankly my dear...I don't give a damn......

They make public spectacle over video beheadings and its ok....but don't mess with the koran.

I read somewhere that during the house to house fighting in Iraq our soldiers yelled some religious slur that the insurgents just couldn't let slide and they came out the door and plink,plink....we have a bingo.
Don't remember any whining about that...so whats the difference.

They (Muslims in general) did not do anything. Fundamentalist nut jobs did it. The general public does not want someone taking a Koran out for target practice any more than you would like to see someone taking out the US flag, bible or Torah. Just because one segment of a population does something does not mean the entire population condones the act much less make the act ‘right’. W still thinks Iraq was a good idea and that his actions has nothing to do with Iran getting stronger since Irans primary enemy was removed. Does that mean all of the US is behind him?

Desecrating a holy document is wrong. Period. There is no justification for it. Just because one person commits an act does not mean that someone else can use it as justification for doing the same thing. We are not 5yrs old and in Kindergarten.

Personally I hope they bust the moron down to private and put him on KP duty in Alaska.

BTW, who said it was OK to make a public spectacle of the beheadings? I mean other than the fundamentalist nut jobs who did it.

Well said Cosworth...

Good luck with your common sense thinking here...

Your illiterate masses see it differently....

Muslims Apologize After Desecrating Village’s Christian Church
Muslims have submitted a written apology to Christians in a place called Gowind on October 12; two days after about 500 Muslims stormed New Apostolic Church in this village near the India-Pakistan border.

Shouting slogans against Christians, the Muslims cut the loudspeaker wires and plastered dung on the walls while 20 Christians were at an evening prayer service. They were protesting the church’s use of its own loudspeaker to broadcast its morning service. Muslim clerics then issued calls over mosque loudspeakers for a “social boycott†of Christians.

However, three Muslims — Daler Khan, Haji Yaseen Gardor and Tariq Mehar — signed the apology at the local police station while another 100 Muslims stood outside. The apology states : “We apologize to the Christians for desecrating the church and hurting their religious sentiments.â€

At least these guys were sorry.....

These weren't

They don't see themselves as radical at all......its you and I who have problems.

Desecration goes beyond psychological warfare when children are joyfully participating in the dismemberment of a body and posing for pictures in front of mutilated corpses.

Yea I agree, some people are acting like 5 year olds.
Did anyone catch that he was a ‘sniper’?
What do snipers do?
Kill people at ½ of a mile.
So, you ‘folks’ want to bust him to a private for shooting a ‘book’?

What is a ‘Holy Document’?
Who determines that ‘interpretation’?
I don’t think the Koran is a ‘Holy Document’, do you?

If the soldier was an atheist and using a Bible for target practice, would there be an outcry such as this?
I doubt it, and I could care less.

Anyone over 5 would not be stuck on ‘symbolism’ but some of these ‘mindsets’ fuel a pyre that would never be there with cognizant/reasoning people. So since there are few, we have to cater to the lowest denominator.

I can hear this soldier now, crying on his Mothers lap “I’ll Never Kill a Book Againâ€!!!

The ‘PC’ people are ruining this country into oblivion.

US sniper shot at Koran in Iraq

QUOTE
A US military spokesman said the soldier had been removed from his unit, sent home, and would be disciplined.

Is this nuts or is it just me?

It's completely nuts, and the entirely insane "Politically Correct" thing's gotten so far outta' hand as to be ill-served by way of addressing with mere words. "Respect" is a two way street...and NONE/ZIP/ZERO comes forth for western culture from the Islamic regions in general. During "Sand Wars One/The Prequel": I well recall seeing Christmas trees unloaded from cargo aircraft during Dec of '90..that were brought in by night..and furtively ushered into tents/buildings..so as not to "offend" the very people who would, but for the American forces, have otherwise been getting their teeth brushed with Iraqi T-72 tank tracks. Chaplains of any kind..were "properly" to only be referrred to as "Morale Officers"..The overall BS"s just far, far..waaa-aaay too deep to adequately comment on.

Don't get me wrong..I can certainly understand the lunatic-hysteria surrounding this. Had the sniper put the same bullet through another mere human being..we'd have heard nothing of it, and there'd be no "Righteous indignation"..but: "Shoot a BOOK!!??"...ummm..yeah....our societal priorites are clearly well established...and fully "sane".

One bright spot in this incident though = It seems that anyone who's fully sick of The Sandbox..now only needs put a hole into a "Holy" book to get to come home alive, and even in one piece

Btw: I certainly wouldn't want to "offend" anyone with that notion..so I'd suggest allowing any/all that shoot at whatever persuasion of "Holy" book they wish, (Be it even Horton Hears a Who or whatever ANYONE anywhere, might even possibly hold "sacred"), should be accorded the same privilege..ummm.."punishment"...without the least bit of any improper discrimination attatched. "Soldier!/Marine/Airman!...Haven't you heard!!?? = Shoot a book and you get to come home!" 😉 Given the tenets of "Political Correctiness"..we can't possibly afford to discriminate in any way. The Torah, writings on Zoroasterism, the Book of Mormon, the Baghavad Gita, the Bible, any teachings of Buddha, any texts on Confucius, Seth Speaks, Scientology texts, Greek/Roman Mythology, studies of Aztec sacrificial rituals...you name it...somebody finds it "sacred". It ALL ought to be fair "game" for a trip home. To do otherwise ranks of the utmost discrimination....and we all know that no one's feelings should ever be hurt within any deadly war zone....much, much less ever have their sensibilites put off in any way.
