With the ease of restrictions and the probable removal of the travel ban do you think US will jump on flight from CLT-Havana?

I think MIA might be better than CLT to Havana.

That makes no sense for USAirways. We have only a token presence in MIA. Last time I checked, our largest hub was in CLT. US would have no feed in MIA to serve Havana, and American Airlines would have the home field advantage BIG TIME on a Miami-Havana route.

Two thirds of all U.S./Cubans live in Florida (990,000). New Jersey is next with 81,000. So if not MIA - maybe FLL - again.

PHL - HAVANA for SURE will work. Lots of Cubans in NJ... Plus Havana will become a HOT tourist spot- just wait and see!

Right now AA/AX and CO/COX serve Cuba with the "public charters" from MIA. The AX flights even show up on AA's flight status page.

Having spent a lot of years in Miami, I think US would make a killing on the Mia Hav route. Connections would not be needed.

Do you think we operate in a vacuum?

Do you think somehow American, with their huge presence and marketing AAdvantage in MIA, will just let LCC have the route unchallenged?

Do you think our Piedmont Dash-8's will effectively compete against an American 767 on the route?

Yeah. There would be a killing on the route. AA killing US!

Do you think these people will fly MIA to CLT to ride us to Havana? I think not. Will be a nice windfall for AA.
