I know these ships will only be used to fan the culture wars, but it'd be great if they sparked discussions about
1. The "real" meaning of Christmas
2. Bringing manufacturing back to the US.
3. The potential perils of consumer economy
After effects of needlessly shutting down the economy. We would have faired as good or if not better by keeping businesses and schools open. Now look at supply chain issues and mental problems in society which were a direct result of these moves.

(have to tickle the bears tail, so to speak)

Nope, I've never had a problem with someone making what they were able to negotiate.

But negotiations have consequences. The day will come when more automation enters the picture or other ports take away business. All Oakland needs to do is invest in newer cranes to compete with Long Beach. Same with some of the Florida ports.

Apparently with the pending merger of Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern, they're even talking about increasing traffic from Lazardo Cardenas as an alternative to Long Beach and Vancouver. In rail miles, it's about the same distance from cities in the central US (e.g. Chicago, Dallas) as Long Beach is.

The only wishing and hoping you're capable of are yoga pants at the airport....

Analysts who studied at the Crandall School know that they have to look at all available options. Even the ones an elderly retiree lav cleaner would call out as ridiculous...

Did anyone really think ten years ago that a majority of ordering at fast-food chains would be done via mobile app or a kiosk, or that home delivery would become the preferred model for retail?

Nah. You've been too busy fantasizing about yoga pants.
