What's new

USAir on the Simpson's this week.

anyone remember the simpsons when bart wins a trip tp orlando...they go to "disney" and their is a ride called the worl of tommorow- sponserd by eastern airlines. one scene has a giant robot floging the eastern employees....was pretty funny

Its funny if you take it as a bash on the lack of service, which the Simpsons reference may be. But keep in mind the episode was from the late 80s, early 90s and may be referencing the crashes from around that time. The Saturday Night Live skit certainly was...

The Simpsons episode was from 2003, not the 80s or 90s.

I think the SNL skit ran in Feb 1992.

One of the funniest gags ever!

The Simpsons' episode was circa 1995 or so... before the name change er adjustment to USAirways.

Theres another Simpsons where they are flying and Homer asks why they have to stop in Nome, Alaska... "Its thier hub!" replies Marge. Then when they get to the counter they ask for first class or something and the agent says "You know what, why not, Im getting laid off again tomorrow."

I remember this episode it's pretty old, If I'm not mistaken it said US Air not US Airways which dates the episode....

Why would it date the episode? Everybody but employees still calls it USAir.

In fact, I was in the boarding area in PHX late last Sunday night, and the agent boarding the flight to San Jose thanked everyone on the PA for flying with USAir tonight. I'll bet she never liked it when others called her former airline AMERICAN West. And now she doesn't even know the name of the airline she works for.

If the Sandbox keeps trying they can make the Simpsons again.

Don't you mean the Sandpail doesn't even HAVE to try to make The Simpsons again?

On a side note, what makes The Simpsons so funny is the irony of the humor...the jokes may be laughing matter but there is usually much (bad or embarassing) truth behind them!

Do you remember when USAir made Saturday Night Live?
What about the "Buh-Bye" skit w/ David Spade ? US wasn't mentioned specifically but they did say "Welcome to Pittsburgh"......
I still have pax saying "Buh-Bye" to this day.

.US never made "The Simpsons"....Boy, we must be the laughing stock of the industry! Way to go Tempe! Keep up the good work!

Actually, there was a previous "USAir" reference around '95 or so. I don't remember which episode, but there a sign saying "US Air Force*" Then, in smaller print: "*not affiliated with USAir"

the actual quote from prof frink is

"if i stop pedaling i'll die, but, it still beats usair, ho hai!"

i actually have a couple .wav files with that and then him singing a ditty after it as well if anyone wants them drop me a pm and i'll email them

It's an old episode.

THAT EPISDOE AIRED IN THE MID 90'S. THERE WAS ANOTHER EPISODE ABOUT THE SAME TIME WHERE OUTSIDE AN AIRFORE BASE ENTRANCE IS A SIGN READING "NOT AFFILIATED WITH USAIR"

MATT GROENING MUST'VE FLOWN THRU PHL
