What's new

USAirways CEO tries to shed airlines past.

Did you forget your past? If you think that USAirways had a good reputation before Doug and the investors put this deal together, you are not dealing with reality.
If you had God running this company, you would complain and act as if you are more intelligent. Give me a break...
Name a company that doesn't have problems. Any company. THERE AREN'T ANY!
The public views this forum (for whatever reason) and can see the sheer childishness of many posts...THAT is humiliating.

At least in the past the USAirways Management admitted that they had problems, knew what they were, and tried to fix them. Dougie and his troop of clowns can't even admit that they have problems with this joke of an airline that need fixing.

And lest you forget - America's Worst didn't exactly have a stellar reputation before the merger either - so you should be careful who you point fingers at regarding "reputation".

And I mean really - do you believe for one second that he has never heard "Useless Airways" - I know he has his head in the sand out there in the sandcastle - but to actually be quoted saying that just proves that he is just a big old liar!

Show of hands...How many people actually believe that he flies in coach in the middle seat "a lot."?

I think if it's only him and his buddies flying on a private jet, he pretty much sits everywhere!

They had no idea what they were doing that's why we're in this mess!

The strategic blunders of the late 80's are why this airline went from all-star to the perennial loser it is now!

To recap: Rushed into two ill-advised mergers (PSA/Piemont) soley to fend off a hostile takeover and then set about replacing all the local talent with "cool northern efficiency". Had no idea what to do with all the public good will they'd just bought and proceeded to become Southwest's biggest booster. Destroyed the west coast operation and the Florida Shuttle.

Proudly bragged of having no need of international expansion, grudgingly accepted the Piedmont LGW route and the 12 76's and promptly cancelled the options for 12 more. Ordered F100's instead and bet the farm on the PIT "hub".

And let me just say... "BusinessSelect".

First guy to show up who had a clue was Wolf; he took one look around and said "you guys are up s__t creek" and proceeded to ready the airline for sale. "There is no place for a stand-alone USAir in this industry."

And the biggest lark of all are all the USAir people on here who spent the last 10 years on this board lambasting their airline, mocking it, hating it, and now all of a sudden it was Camelot.

Doug inherited a turd and the stink is not going away anytime soon.

Well, I picked out quite a few inaccuracies there, and when he used airliners.net as a reference it lost all credibility.

This bit is true though:

Recent news
A Consumer Reports survey of 23,000 readers released in June 2007 ranked US Airways as the worst airline for customer satisfaction. The survey was conducted before the airline's March 2007 service disruptions. A follow up survey with a smaller sample size conducted in April 2007 found US Airways remained in last place, with its score dropping an additional 10 points.

US Airways ranked last out of 20 domestic airlines for systemwide on-time performance in March, April and May of 2007 according to the US Department of Transportation figures.

That's the current US Airways, which is all anyone in the traveling public cares about. Any other airline names and their percieved successes or failures are forgotten by all but employees and aviation enthusiasts. You are only as good or bad as your last flight.

I don't know how many times these people need to hear how terrible the product they offer is before they believe it. What scares me is that I read that article in horror from an employee and customer perspective, whereas they see nothing wrong with it.

I have had him on the airplane a couple of times. He does ride in coach, as does his family.

He comes up to say hello before taking his seat in back. According to the FAs he is pleasant and his kids are very well behaved.

Look Hulagirl let's take this article for exactly what it is. The reason for the Doug and Joe Beery making themselves available to the media has NOTHING to do with "Useless Air" or "America Worst".

What it has to do with is DAMAGE CONTROL regarding the changes made to the DM program, the complete failure to get deals done with Organized Labor and the highest Consumer Complaints to the DOT.

They've taken time out of their busy bean counting days to go to the media and distract the flying public and employees from the real issues facing US Airways. The reason Doug chose CLT is because US Airways was getting pounded by the media early and often there and rightfully so. They've gone to the media not with solutions to their problems but rather more excuses and feeble attempts to justify their actions.

I've NEVER in my business career seen a group more adept at blame shifting. As for other posters comments regarding arrogance one only need look to Andrea Raider, US Spokeswoman who chose to insult customers. One in particular. Now that decision can only have come from the top and I find it absolutely hilarious that it happened considering I have an e-mail chastising me for being negative. What could possibly be more negative than openly and arrogantly insulting customers in the media?

What say you Hula Girl?? Inquiring minds want to know.
This is crap, America West always had a Media Day and has continued on the tradition after the acquisition. Call it what you want, but this is an annual event that has happened for many years.

I admit that not everything has gone well, but it's not as bad as some would like to think. The people that do the bashing, should just try a little harder and learn how to work well with the tools you have and treat customers right and you'll see how far it goes with the majority. Some customers aren't happy no matter what you do and some of them are on this board.

And this is what I do every workday. Still is doesn’t change the facts of the unreliable express carriers and qik/shares
Can you fix that pretty please?

UWCactus/Jetsetter2ord has never had tools, so doesn't know that you aren't supposed to just stick things together with chewing gum and make it up as you go along.

On-time performance is a deception. WE ALL KNOW THAT, RIGHT? One location is open but a major hub is snowed in. It goes without saying that if most of the other airlines fly elsewhere and most of US's flights fly in or out of that hub, who's going to look bad? Try telling people that their flight is delayed or cancelled, and watch how pleasant they handle it.

If a passenger has 99 pleasant flights with US and his last flight is unpleasant, guess which comes first in random conversation. Not to mention that humans as a whole are greedy and hope to gain something by complaining.

As far as me, I couldn't care less about any airline issue. Perhaps US Airways is the worst airline in the world. Will complaining solve the problem or let it go the way of other great name airlines.

Immediately after 9/11 over 300 US Airways employees were given the boot...in my dinky area! Maybe people should see if more people were eliminated before AWA came into the picture.

US Airways is a business and business cares more about profit than, well, YOU!...and by you I mean passenger and employee alike. Until NOBODY flies EVERYTHING is irrelevant...sad but true.

Of course your Star Alliance might prove profitable. With LH eyeing CRL, all, or most, domestic connections will go to US.

At least US was never threatened with a shutdown by the FAA because of lack of oversight in maintenance and never had the largest fine levied upon them by the FAA.

I think that about sums up that statement....
If you arent fully cognizant and dont have a clue how things woulda/coulda/shoulda be run, its like they've hit a freakin grand slam around here. 🙄

Well then you tool, why don't you come out and work a PHL-LGW or PHL-FRA? Oh wait you weren't hired from the approptiate pool for that were you? What? oh wait, another one of those "I applied everywhere and America West hired me"!! Well don't you just have all of the answers!! Get over yourself!!! when the Titanic known as US finally sinks because of the "Sugar-Free Kool-Aid" being served, let's see whose corporate you're residing at. You go ahead and put "worked with the tools that I had" on your resume and get laughed out. Unless of course it's Mesa then you'll fit right in!

Where is your proof?

At least I have pictures of the long lines as a result of the Res Migration. Not to mention the deplorable condition of the aircraft over the summer. Never minding the dismal DOT statistics or the Zagat Survey. All of which support my point of view.

Where is YOUR proof of the allegation. I know it's the internet, however every now and then it's nice to have a fact or three to support your contentions.

I'm not giving names on this board nor via personal message. Obviously I can't show you pictures of wet bags. However, I'll attempt to find a news story that has the info. My initial searches didn't turn anything up but I remember it happening as I was on the ramp that day and talked to one of my co-workers that had the pleasure of opening the bin.

Well for what it's worth, if it came from PHL or "that other hub/focus city" on the East coast then I believe you, and admit it guys you know damn well that some of these creeps are foolish enough to pull something like that. I've seen first hand how some of the West crews have been treated and it's nothing short of complete Bull$#!T and childish stupidity. I'm gonna give these guys that much and it's uncalled for no matter what you think!!
