Talk around the water cooler was our Union is wanting to go the VEBA route. I hope everyone really looks into this closely. Didn't work out real well at Caterpillar...anyone else concerned about this?

With the rumors all over the Tulsa Base that the previous Local 514 President is about to be indicted for criminal activity involving huge sums of money, I don't think I want my retirement medical or anything else for that matter administered by the Transport Workers Union of America.

I say we get rid of the twu all together let them sponser their own VEBA after they loose our dues money. 😉

What would be the biggest problem with a TWU VEBA?
Well here is my prediction.
Initially, comparable premiuim to what we have today. This would get it passed compared to the 50 and under shaft that was in the T/A... Then you better look out !
Within 5 years our premiuims would be $200+ per month
Just look at LTD, Flex Benefits, STD as examples of what will happen to us with this coverage.

Wow. According to Bob Zimmerman when I asked about the OPEN language about a committee to be formed in the future to consider the formation of this VEBA Committee he said that the twu did not want anything to do with it. The company wants this bad! I don't trust the twu. If the twu got control of this fund it would be pissed away after a few years.
