Since the ibt has been on the property it has been a nightmare. Our only hope is to vote for Sandy Pope for President and oust Hoffa. Sandy visited SFO, LAX and Denver. Sandy Pope, the reform candidate challenging James Hoffa for presidency of the Teamsters Union, commented today on the vote by 25,000 Teamsters at YRCW to extend concessions in an effort to save their company:

"Teamsters have made a tough choice. We never should have been in this position."

"James Hoffa has let the power his father built in the freight industry slip away," she said. "We have been reduced to approving severe concessions to save companies and jobs. We should be organizing to improve wages and benefits—not going backwards. With a strategic plan to organize and defend our contracts and pensions, we can get back on the offense and rebuild Teamster power. Our members deserve nothing less.”

Sandy Pope, the president of New York Local 805, is challenging James Hoffa for Teamster president in the election which will be held in October 2011.
