Charlotte-based Wachovia Corp, the nation's 4th biggest bank, will make Oakland, CA its western regional HQ. Anyone think they'll be able to get US to provide daily non-stops from CLT to OAK?

Have they visited Oakland? 🙄

And before anyone flames me I'm a native Californian and Oakland is ok but there are much nicer places in the bay area.

Oh well I guess for the high end execs they'll take off as soon as possible for the hills. B)

I can't see adding a flight when they all ready fly to SFO, adding flight cause of one company is not a money maker.

Just because they fly to SFO doesn't mean they won't fly to OAK. Lots of people prefer OAK, particularly WN people. When are they going to add a non-stop to SJC from PHL and CLT?

The bottom line is that if the Wise Ones think that a flt to OAK from CLT will somehow give them an advantage over WN, they will add it. It seems to me that everything revolves around competing with WN. If you focus too much on one "enemy" you sometimes lose sight of the big picture and if the guys in Tempuraville don't pay attention to AA and UA, US will be lose even if they win against WN. Biz pax in the East are different than Biz pax in the west.

OAK is my home airport and I'd kill for a US non-stop anywhere east. I just don't see it though, with WN being so, so huge there and B6 coming in a close second.

Ask AA about its RDU-LGW service.... added primarily due to one corporate contract, then more business piled on through the years.

AA does not serve RDU-LGW just becuase there is a big company there and they gambled big.

It helps that the Glaxo Smith Kline contract pays enough for costs plus profit.

If Wachovia paid for a CLT flight then US would definitely fly it for them.

Beyond that long hauls are not where the money is at these days. It took B6 a while to figure that out 🙄

Short haul is where airlines are getting the most bang for their buck. B)

Well I know the reason we fly to MAN is due to a big pharmaceutical company with offices there and in suburban PHL. We also expanded service to SFO to help BofA (with an agreement of guaranteed seats sold to them). I just figured that OAK could be a decent market for a once a day nonstop with Wachovia buying a percentage of seats.
