The old liberal goat shoulda kept his feeble mouth shut. But like most liberals they eventually shoot themselves in the foot.

Using only publicly-available documents, a certified public accountant (CPA) detailed Berkshire Hathaway’s tax problems to ALG researcher Richard McCarty. Now, the American people have a better idea of how much in back taxes the company could owe Uncle Sam.

According to page 56 of the company report, “At December 31, 2010… net unrecognized tax benefits were $1,005 million”, or about $1 billion. McCarty explained, “Unrecognized tax benefits represent the company’s potential future obligation to the IRS and other taxing authorities. They have to be recorded in the company’s financial statements.”

He added, “The notation means that Berkshire Hathaway’s own auditors have probably said that $1 billion is more likely than not owed to the government.”

IF the money/taxes are owed and Mr. Buffet pays them, then this man should be Praised rather than ridiculed. If (then) they are owed and not paid, well that (then) will be a different story. Perhaps we all might wait for the final results Before we start verbally abusing this man.

Why wait. That's not nearly as fun. There is a third option, that they do not owe any more taxes and that the IRS made a mistake.

Funny how liberals want to wait for due process when one of their own is caught up in a scandal. Was the same affording to Sarah Palin? Dick Cheny? GWB, (including the various crop of republican contenders) etc?

According the various articles Buffett been wrestling the IRS over this for 10+ years so this isn't something that came out of the blue.

So you are saying that for over 10+ years, hundreds of man hours investigated, lawyers, auditors, etc., that its just simply an error?

May be. I'm saying everything with the IRS is a PIA due to all the loop holes and shelters. BH had a 14 yr case with the IRS that got resolved in 2005 if I remember correctly. Has the IRS ever made an error?

The IRS is the closest agency we have in the USA to the legendary Gestapo on WWII Germany!

~sigh~ Seems you have no idea what the Gestapo was about. Then again, you do have a flare for the dramatic.

Both were about Fear & Intimidation of the Citizenry. That's all anyone needs to know.

Look up Lojeski v IRS, educate yourself. I know Shirley & Tommy T personally and visited the farm. If what the IRS thugs did to her isn't morally equivalent to the Gestapo then I don't know what would be.

then I don't know what would be.

You sure got that right.

This is Nazi Germany. The IRS has nothing on Nazi Germany. The fact that you think the two are even remotely equivalent indicates that you are either clueless at an extreme level or that you just want to provide a little drama to tour argument and are catering to the ignorant who also have no clue what happened in Nazi Germany.

I know exactly what happened in Nazi Germany. Tyranny is tyranny, period whether it be at the barrel of a gun or the point of a pen. If your government uses fear and intimidation to suppress the degree of tyranny doesn't mater. It's liken arguing how many were killed during the Holocaust. Who cares? If it was one it was one to many.

Like I said, READ the Lojeski case and see how the courts protected the agents who were clearly wrong and on a witch hunt and found no witches while stealing the peace and serenity of two law abiding citizens in what amounted to an emotional gas chamber. I saw what they did to these people. The IRS through their actions create the Tim McVeighs of the world just as our foreign policy in the Middle East creates Jihadists.

From the court decision.

However, based on the uncontradicted testimony by the plaintiff, we find that the plaintiff's constitutional rights were violated by the defendants Boandl and Jessup, and that plaintiff was injured as follows:

1. She lost two insurance policies, a health and life policy, because she did not have the funds to pay the premium.

2. She was threatened with foreclosure of her real estate because she didn't have the funds to make her mortgage payment.

3. She couldn't run her horse business because of the lack of funds to buy feed and other items.

4. She was sued by one supplier because she did not have the funds to pay her bill.

5. She had to borrow money for food and to pay her mortgage.

6. She was humiliated, degraded and withdrawn.

7. She didn't leave the farm because she was ashamed to meet people, and for fear that Jessup would come back to the farm and remove her personal property.

Thuggery is Thuggery, Tyranny is Tyranny, whether it wears the spiffy jack booted uniforms of the Gestapo or the Dark Suits and white shirts of the IRS, The IRS destroyed her spirit and left the body whole. At least the Gestapo killed the entire person swiftly and surely.

What you fail to comprehend was Hitler started out as your average peoples candidate then through many facets of legislative wrangling, the monster emerged and consumed the populace.

Among other things!

Think Warren Buffet would be subjected to the treatment Lojeski got?

It is obvious that you do not. If you did you would not be making such ludicrous statements. When people make the Nazi comparison what they do is trivialize what happened under Nazi rule. It also says that they have run out of rational arguments.

Says you! Here's a rational argument for you

In order to work in this country for someone else you have to complete a IRS W-4 authorizing withholding (Confiscation)of a portion of YOUR wages. The penalty for not completing a W-4 is you don't work. That's nothing more than an extortion racket if you or I did it. But because it's the IRS/Government that makes it OK?

I don't think it does and I haven't since long before what happened to Ms Lojeski. A fact everyone here chooses to ignore. Her saga is public record and is an undeniable truth. Click off the Huffington Post and educate yourself as the subtle legal jockeying that undermines your personal Liberty under the twin guises of security & "helping" others. We now have RICO, Patriot Act, Fisa Courts, No Knock Warrants and everyone rolls over like lap dogs. There are a great many parallels to the rise of Hitler and the restrictions on Liberty here. People don't see them because they don't want to.

Maybe I'm fresh out of rational arguments as to me there is nothing more irrational then a nation founded upon Freedom & Liberty whose citizens would sit back and allow the Federal Government to confiscate your wages without an armed insurrection. That is far more irrational than a comparison to Nazi Germany. BTW there is nothing trivial about even one person having their Liberty interrupted by a tyrannical agency with the power to destroy lives as the IRS does.

Look at a tax booklet sometime and you'll note that compliance is said to be voluntary. Try not "Voluntarily complying" and see which Federal Prison you serve time at.
