I was just curious if anyone knew what happened yesterday on the emergency landing into GSO. Pilots upfront were monitoring the radios and heard Delta call for emergency landing because of smoke in the cockpit. Our pilots said that Delta was doing an excellent job. I guess sometimes it pays to have experience up front.

We were on final when we heard the tower mention an emergency in progress and the aircraft affected was high over GSO. A few minutes after we landed, the emergency plane landed and slowly taxied to the terminal surrounded by emergency vehicles. I heard nothing else about it.

I suppose "smoke in the cockpit" and "emergency landing" are not covered in training, only to be learned by experience? 🙄

Training will allow you to get the procedures of an emergency landing or smoke in the cockpit correct.....BUT...

More often than not, Thinking outside the box is what save's lives....and I'm sorry my friend....you can train till the cows come in...but you cannot train experience!!!
