AA will buy another airline to retain the title of worlds largest airline. They are not concerned about the issues that come with mergers and buyouts. After all the golden parachutes kick in after a buyout is done. Seniority issues and contract issues are not a problem, the US government is on the companies side not the poor working stiff. It has been proven before and it will happen again. There must be a reason why AA wants a short term contract with the TWU. That is not past practice. Something is going to happen, just watch and see. And when it does, can you spell B.O.H.I.C.A. all over again?
Does anyone really believe that DL's not going to find an excuse to start trimming away at the fringes of the old NWA network, park a few aircraft types, close a regional hub or two?
It's just a matter of time before they find their own way back to the #2 spot.
They're just gonna wait for the AA/BA/IB thing to happen.
AA will buy another airline to retain the title of worlds largest airline.
AA/BA/IB team will be far more formidable and smarter outfit than this DL/NW trainwreck-in-the-making.
DL/NW was conceived when credit was good and the managers/hedgefunds wanted to cash out.
AA/BA/IB (hey, timing is EVERYTHING!) will be done for competitive market reasons. Smart. Very smart.
Good luck!
As to why the AA/BA/IB poligamist marriage (of sorts), we'll just have to see what they're up to. Yes, it will certainly be a good situation for all three companies but I can't help but think there's something ulterior here we aren't seeing. That's what scares me.
.
So why is it so scary for AA employees?

Pride aside, I don't care if we're not the biggest anymore. I'd like us to be the most profitable.
