What was the US response?

Delta is offering free transportation to any immediate family member who wants to reach Roanoke/Blacksburg, Va., in the wake of Monday’s shootings at Virginia Tech that killed more than 30. Delta will be working directly with the office of the school’s dean of students to arrange transportation for any immediate family member who requests it. Delta Connection carriers Atlantic Southeast Airlines and Comair serve the communities, and we’ve arranged for extra aircraft to stand by in Atlanta and Cincinnati if needed.

“Delta extends its condolences to all those affected by this horrible tragedy and will do everything possible to assist Virginia Tech, the families of victims and the entire Roanoke/Blacksburg community in responding to this tragedy,†Delta said in a statement Monday.

Has US responded in any way? If so, I can't find it.

VIRGINIA TECH TRAGEDY

Yesterday's tragic shootings at Virginia Tech stunned the nation and immediately became worldwide news. US Airways’ teams in Roanoke (ROA) and Lynchburg (LYH) - the largest US Airways airports near the University’s home in Blacksburg - quickly began feeling the tragedy’s effects as victims’ families, the media and others began arriving in the cities. US Airways immediately issued flexible fare rules for travel to/from Roanoke and Lynchburg throughout the week, waiving advance purchase requirements, change fees and more. We are also offering free travel to families of the victims through the university. ROA’s Piedmont employees - many of them alumni and friends or family of students - were hit hard, yet Manager John Campbell said, “The focus is on helping those traveling inbound with a heavy burden to carry.†John also mentioned that the ROA team is increasing staffing, both with local employees and employees from other cities.

Thanks for the post. Good to hear that US has responded

After hearing what the murderer wrote in his letters, you sound as heartless as he. I only hope you are not about to cross the line and do something such as that cowardly act.

why didn't tempe issue a press release indicating this compassionate and appropriate gesture?

i guess the employees are supposed to disseminate it to the general public 🙄

why didn't tempe issue a press release indicating this compassionate and appropriate gesture?

We all know if US had been the first to issue a press release instead of just advising the school and who needed to know, there would be those on here calling the company pathetic for using this tragic event for media PR. Another damned if you do and damned if you dont scenario. At least the company notified those at the school that can get the info out to those who it will benefit.

yep.. the official company reaction was to put 4 HEART members in CLT on alert for deployment by Sunday if called for help.. they will assist with staffing.

I was at the HEART training today when Chris and Joan started running around frantically to try to organize it with the various departments.
