It is no secret at all. When somebody attempts a raid on the union, National's organizing group looks for help from regular line pilots. Four of us from the west, along with a number of east pilots, attended this meeting out in Herndon. If there is a card drop by USAPA, and if they present enough valid cards to the NMB, there will be a vote and we will need pilots here who can answer pilot's questions about the process and the vote. Many more west pilots will likely be involved. We will need 100% participation by AWA pilots.
The purpose of the meeting was to allow regular line pilots to share there concerns, get the most current information about USAPA's representation efforts, and receive briefings on the status of JNC negotiations including what has been TA'd, management's business plan, Wilson Center polling results, etc. We also received briefings on current and possible future litigation and walked through several probable if/then scenarios.
To put it briefly, there are a lot more bad possible outcomes than there are good ones; some are really bad. Anything that has USAPA in it falls onto the really bad branches of the fault tree. The good news is that there are a significant number of east pilots that recognize this and currently see their MEC traveling down the same road they did with the bankruptcy and the concession LOA's.
Our job will be to help inform and dispel rumors - like the rumors that seem to start on the webboard and or get fanned by that guy soon to retire. Hope that answers your questions. Lots more information should be hitting your mail boxes soon. The next few weeks will be key as to what road we find ourselves on.
