Like many crew members, I pack a cooler for trips -- it saves money, and allows me to eat on those 6 or 7 leg days with no time to buy food. I'm just in a rut with what I pack, and thought I'd see what other crew members bring along when they pack food for a trip.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

I make my own beef jerky. I was lucky I didn’t get busted in Customs going through AMS last month!

I also help myself to the apples and oranges from the hotel at the front desk or breakfast area. Those packages of instant oatmeal are good too, if I can mix an unflavored one in to cut down on the sweetness.

Can I get some of that jerky? I love homemade beef jerky...I'd fly all the way to Pittsburgh for that 🙂

I was on a PHL-SAN flight a few years back that had eyeballs in a cooler. I didn't know you could make it to SAN that quickly. I now love when body parts are on my flight. Also, I forget her name, but the A was awesome on that flight, and HOT as Debbie's nails after a manicure in Chinatown

Hey, perhaps you're onto something. That would improve the on-time rating if all flights carried body parts? Wait, if all flights carried body parts, then where would the improvement be in PHL? Same ol' same ol', right?

Now, back on topic... FlyGuy, as someone who usually can't eat much of the airport/plane fare due to a corn allergy, I carry things like dried fruit and nuts. I make my own cranberry (Craisins) & cashew mix and put it in a baggie. If you have a Sams membership, the big bags of Craisins or raisins are pretty cheap, same with big cans of cashews. When I flew US CLT-LAS a couple of months back, when the drink service came around, I whipped out my baggie of mix and got lots of "gee, that looks good" stares.

N965VJ's beef jerky idea is a good one too. I need to try to make a batch again, as I have the dehydrator.

This is so not going where I intended, but why not make it the "Next Food Network Galley Star" topic.

Galley recipies 101 -- the 737 Orange Julius -- Minute Maid OJ, Mini Moo's, Vodka, and Seltzer -- only for 1st Class passengers ;-)

we don't have minute maid, anymore. it was axed as quickly as the 320's closet.

OMG! Don't tell the catering people in CLT! We had a whole cart full from CLT to PHX. Thank goodness, because those Iranians "On Holiday" really like that Minute Maid. And, PHX is really so nice and cool this time of year. Plus, with gas at 4.15/gal. in PHX, it's like a free vacation.

I know what what one f/a had in his cooler after a flight, the other half of my uneaten sanchwich.

Kid you not and thought I was going to keel over. I took a flight from LAS/PHL last year and over the years I have learned that airline food is not a gourmet type experience. I was up in first and the offer was either shrimp salad or a turkey sandwich. (could have been something different.) Regardless, when I got the sandwich, after unrolling it in it's wrapper, there was no presentation, no utensil, the FA just plopped the sandwich down on the tray. I took one bite and thought that beside's the wilted lettuce, the mayo being stale along with the bread that it was not in my best interest to finish it. So I wrapped up the uneaten portion. The F/A asked if I wanted anything else and I told him that it was a horrible sandwich. I then saw him throw out the uneaten half and then watched in horror as to put the other uneaten half IN HIS COOLER. That was my last trip on LCC and has reinforced my view of their operation.

One of those flat tuna packets saved me from eating a chair after four hours on Tampa's runway.

Think protein. Nuts, tuna packets, (I know they smell, just dispose of in a plastic bag and quickly!), peanut butter, cheese.

The hardest thing to get/bring is something green. You can go an entire four day and not ingest one vegetable.

Pitas and wraps travel well, better than bread and take less space.

BTW, drop a line to MF and tell him you want crew meals back. It's becoming a health and welfare issue.
