The term "SCAB" doesn't have to pertain to just union verses non union. It has a broader meaning. It could pertain to anybody coming into your workforce. AMTs that keep accepting less and less for their skills are ruining the profession. The AMT schools are drying up around the country - word is out - companies that employ AMTs generally suck - with the exception of a very few! What sane person is going to drop upwards of 30k for an A&P certificate from schools like Embry Riddle or Spartan only to make 15 to 20 bucks an hour? Violated is right in turning down the offer. Don't let the company help you to screw yourself. You would only enable the people that decided maintenance wasn't that important anyway.
