Why give up the 319's seeing as HP has some 30+ 319's that are used on several long-haul PHX and LAS - East Cost routes?

The A319 non-EOW aircraft that are being returned are a requirement of GECAS who wants the aircraft back. US Airways had no leverage to keep them after the 279 fleet count was given up by ALPA's RC4.

GE required the aircraft to be returned in support of their financing package obtained a few months ago.

I doubt the RC4 had any impact, could have had any impact, etc on the aircraft return situation and GE's requirements.

While these gentlemen did what they felt they had to do in order to respresent their constituents, I doubt GECAS has ever heard of them. Given the downsizing occuring, it seems unlikely that anything would have stopped US Airways from the announced downsizing.

<cough>

The RC4 wanted to kill the T/A with a roll call vote. You and your boys couldn't approve this turd fast enough.......... you farce

Funguy2 and AAviator...

No more sarcasm from you two will be tolerated! HE has declared RC4 responsible for the return of the a/c, and that's that. In fact, I believe HE is now researching the possibility that the RC4 is also responsible for AIDS, SARS, Florida hurricanes, and ingrown toenail. (Just remember, I told you first. :lol: )

GE will take back whatever they want.. EOW or not.. If they want it they will get it. Simple as that..

They want their 737-300's back because they are going to be converted to freighters.. The 737-400's get junked when they are returned because no one wants them..

AmericaWest has some of the oldest A320's on earth and no one wants them..

GE Wants the younger aircraft because they can get top buck for them!!!

as clue by four said before....ge is taking the a/c that can extract the most monies from as they can utilize what HP has ...... 😉 😉

Exactly. GE is taking the assets they they know they can immediately re-lease. While CCY might want to dump all the Boeings due for MX (and may/has dumped those on some other lessors) GE is taking the "good stuff."

The ALPA contract had nothing to do with this. The minimum fleet size language would not have impacted GECAS taking airframes back. It would have happened anyway.
