I think this is it for concessions. At the rate U's burning money, even with the last ditch prop-up by the ATSB, it'll only be a few more months. With oil staying very high, even JB is going to post a deficit. It's just a matter of months. The way this company is managed, employees would have to pay to work there to keep it in business.

Besides, there's nothing left, except in the pilot's well . . . . and there's plenty more in there.

Huh?

After the robber pulled a gun on the couple and took their coats, his wallet, her pocketbook, the watches, and wedding rings, he demanded to know if they had anything else of value. The lady piped up and said, “Yeah, my husband has a couple gold crowns on his teeth.â€￾

OMG, thank you for the refreshing LOL tonight. You brought me back to reality...they're NOT getting my IUD, too!

they will be back. And why not? The U employees have shown they will cave, everytime. If you were managment, wouldn't you try it one more time? I mean, it may work, it may not, but you never know till you try.

Michael,

IMHO, the US Airways employees made the best of a list of bad choices, are you saying we would all be better off without an airline?

Let me guess, you don't work here right now...furloughed?

I know from being furloughed 5 times in my early years what it is like out there. Now that I am on airline number 5 I plan on taking care of the golden goose.

For example, if I would have stayed at Continental/People Express I would be a 777 Captain right now...when I left at the end of 1985 the place was in shambles...a few years later, some management talent appeared and the rest is history.

The same can happen here; however, we have to exist for that to happen. We have done our part for that to happen (for now), and barring more serious revenue declines, we should begin to recover. However, there are NO guarantees and we could be fighting for our lives in the months to come again for any number of reasons.

Yup we caved. So for now U is done. It is your turn to fix this industry. When your management comes for consessions just say no! no! no!. They will say we will liquidate. And you can just say no. They will run out of money but you must stand tall and say no because it isn't right to what they are doing to you. They will through out your contract and you must strike because it isn't right what is happening to airline employees. When they liquidate your carrier and sell of the pieces to those of us that caved we will all talk about how brave you were and we will be thankful for what you did for us. Then we will board our flight to Paris and go to work. Thank you in advance.

Of course they will be back. Why? Because they keep getting what they ask for!The rumblings for more "need concessions" will start within 6months.

I assume that most, if not all, of the agreements contain language similiat to this:

"US Airways may seek relief from the Section 1113 ALPA Forbearance prior to its expiration only if it can demonstrate that such relief is necessary, because US Airways is in grave and imminent danger that it will be forced to suspend, discontinue, or materially reduce, its mainline flight operations, as compared to the operations as of the date hereof."

What's happening to affect the vaunted "Transformation Plan"?

High fuel costs - nearly $60 per barrel spot prices if you average NYC and Gulf Coast spot prices.

Continued LCC expansion - WN in PIT come May and growth elsewhere will continue to exert downward pressure on yields.

So, yes, they'll be back.....unless we liquidate before they have a chance.

Jim

BoeingBoy,

Yup, we have that language too.

If fuel doesn't go below $45 on average in the next 6 months, I don't believe we will be here either. And if they try for more.....then they need to shut the lights, there will not be another concession from the Rank.

It will have to come from the creditiors, stakholders and senior managment.

Any Exec making $200,000 and up is grossly over paid, under utilized and needs a major pay adjustment, or LEAVE. Haven't ran across one that is worth their weight on this property.

We are an industry that is "labor intense". The co. may think they can Kiosk us to death and out source our work....but at the end of the day, you sitll need labor to offer customer service. Right now, morale is so bad, it maybe beyond recovery.

They are not operating this airline anyway.....just running around giving a lot of "spin" to the public, creditors, ATSB, and employees with BS.

So far, I haven't seen any changes in the operation end. Just a bunch of managers running around trying to implement the concessions from labor.

IAM has that language, too.

And, remember the history. Ink wasn't dry on Concessions, Part I, when we went (while in BK) straight to Concessions, Part II.

They'll be back before emerging from BK, and I'm guessing EO, severance, and the sale of sick days (hard cash items) will be on the block.

There are signs in State Parks that say"Do not feed the Bears". Once you feed the bear 1 time he will come back for more food and if you don't give it to him he will EAT YOU!
You can bet USAir management will be coming back for more concessions because the employees have been feeding the bears.

It's highly doubtful that oil's going to come down. The next price hike will be the "shortage" in the summer travel season.

Looks like A320 and his buddies might have to fund the price hike out of their $130k a year incomes.

PILOTS MUST GIVE UP AT LEAST ANOTHER 25 % TO KEEP U alive.

I think that would be fair....... The Mech group gave MORE than they did this time!!!! Time to give again!!!!

I'm sure the pilots are willing to give much more . . . . give up more IAM jobs, more CWA jobs and give up compensation for the few that remain.
