WN to cut PHL-PIT flights

While flying back to PIT on WN tonight , the gate agent in PHL told me that WN was going to cut the PIT _PHL route in half to 3 flights each way a day.This commute is really going to be fun if this is true.Anyone hear anything ?

It wouldn't surprise me...w/ the F/A agreement, they aren't making even the 30 bucks they used to on ID 90 but carrying a bunch of our employees for free with gas around 100 bucks a barrel.However, I agree with Prince, what better way to get to US than by cutting flights that allow their employees to get to work.....if this is true, I wonder if the those in Tempe will be smart enough to realize and put on more main line flights to compensate. Doubt it.

If Tempe/Parker are smart...AND THEY ARE NOT !!!!!!, they better pay STRICT attention to the A$$ KICKING that Sen.(s) SPECTOR/CASEY just dealt them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because if LCC thinks it can NOT get worse(from the FEDS)....it most definitely CAN.

All SW has to do is cancel two flights on a weekday and they will wipe out our TransAtlantic Div. employee wise. Sad but true! :unsure:

I commute to STL on SWA a lot. I doubt seriously that they have cut the flights on PIT-PHL just to make it difficult for LCC employees to commute. That's just not their style. I'm guessing that they cut the frequency because there ain't enough revenue business to justify more flights.

If WN cutting flights is true this is seriously going to be a disaster. It simply isn't possible for everyone to get to and from Philly on the US system alone. It's just not going to happen. What you'll see is a HUGE spike in sick calls and flight attendants using any and all contractual means necessary and do what they have to do. These people both junior AND senior that go back and fourth between PIT and PHL will NOT quit nor will many of them relocate. Commuting is a choice but people are NOT going to move for this company. The company will certainly have a mess on their hands. Oh for those that find themselves without transportation back and fourth dial 1800-USA-RAIL or Amtrak.com. It's not gonna be pretty folks. The chance of US adding flights or upsiziing equipment from express to mainline is never gonna happen. Remember there is NO business in PIT so says the company.

I think instead of having a widebody on the ground in PHL for a couple of hours waiting to turn international, they should have an A330 do a quick PIT turn. This would allow a lot of seats for commuters each way and help make the employees happy.

If WN is planning on pulling a few flights I'd bet US will follow suit and do the same making it even WORSE. It's gonna be WORSE than trying to get cross country just getting over here to PHL. Good luck everyone cause your all gonna need it. Wait til summer. FULL, FULL, FULL.
